I was met by a very exuberant and friendly line guy who chocked the wheels and invited us inside for fresh coffee and gave my mom some free souvenirs. Facilities were very neat and clean. They had a computer that was available to check the weather or your e-mail. In my case I did both! I topped off the fuel at the self-serve (which is a great deal, $4.37/gal if memory serves) and needed to borrow a funnel to put in a little oil for the last leg of my KOKB-KPAE return trip, they were more than happy to let me use their funnel and even had a rag too. I was invited back for BBQ basically any weekend in the summer. This will definitely be a cross-country destination as I work to earn my commercial rating. Top-notch experience and I look forward to going back soon.

GA parking at Newport has been greatly reduced by the addition of commercial aircraft. There is now tie-downs for only 5 or 6 aircraft and even then you will have commercial prop aircraft going close to your plane. For some reason the FBO and the commercial carrier (Sea Port) and the associated aircraft are jammed together. The people at the FBO were helpful and I love the courtesy car.

Good service at a low-key, friendly, and clean FBO. They waived tiedown fee for two nights with fuel purchase. I don't know if that is their policy of if they were just being generous that day. Car rentals are from Enterprise. They will deliver a car, and the FBO will handle the paperwork, if arranged in advance. Upon receiving my credit card statement I found that I was charged for 3 days rental even though I had been given an on-line quote, and actually had the car, for only 2 days. When I called the local office to complain, I was told that their "new" (and apparently stealth) policy is a minimum 3-day rental over the weekend because their office is closed on Saturday and Sunday. (They deliver the cars to the airport on Friday and retrieve them on Monday.) This makes the rental charge preposterously high for a 1 or 2-day weekend rental.

Flew in not too long ago to get lunch. Outstanding friendly service from the FBO staff! They have two ex-cop Crown Victoria’s for use as crew cars (and you need them; the town is a bit of a walk from the airport).

Flew in for the 4th of July and had a good experience. The FBO is well cared for and has many amenities. The prices are excellent and they even have a BBQ every Saturday with hamburgers and hotdogs. Great airport on the coast with an ILS so you can almost always get in.

The staff at Newport is always helpful. This is a great place to visit. If it is fogged in, which it sometimes is, Toledo airport is a few miles away and generally clear

I stopped by on a trip to get fuel. The AirNav 100LL price was $3.60, and I forgot to call ahead. The price was actually $3.96. It was my fault, but I am not sure anyone would be there on Sunday morning. This is a reminder to other AirNav users to keep your local prices up to date.

I can't imagine a better place for visit along the Oregon coast for a GA plane. I have visited up and down the coast and found Newport being the best - excellent airport facility, and a hotel (Shilo) that provides shuttle to/from the airport. The Shilo Inns is right at the beach on top of a bluff with truly spectacular ocean view. A 100-foot stair walk takes you right to the beach. Everything is within walking distance from the hotel.
