Flew in for three days in our Lance. What a pleasant stop! The guys there as nice as could be; drove us to our cabin. No fees, reasonablely priced gas. Not attended every day; call ahead. Watch for deer.

Landed PIM Friday night 10/26/07. No runway lights, no lighted beacon... Just a light on inside the FBO. We made it in and ate at the Hunters Pub with friends (food was great) and made it back out with NO lighting but, what’s up with PIM?

Great service. They greeted me with a smile, and tied me down immediately in the 90 + degree heat. Fuel a bit pricey at $5.25 but I'm used to using auto fuel. I will be back.

Great airport that is so convenient to Calloway Gardens...My wife and I along with family have flown in many times for the Sunday brunch and then toured the Gardens. Have also spent at least 8 nights there. This airport is a great asset for the resort as our flying club flew in and had about 23 people spend the day there along with eating in their fine restaurants. Enjoy the Gardens!!

We flew in last night and called Callaway and they came and picked us up and took us to the country store to eat and then when we were ready they took us back to our plane. The telephone inside the call box is gone but the phone number is written in the call box so be sure to take your cell phone to call them. Let them know how much you appreciate them picking you up and taking you back so they will continue to provide this service for us.

Ann Harris the Customer Service Manager from Callaway Gardens called me on February 23, 2007 and said that Callaway Gardens has reversed their decision and is going back to picking up pilots for and taking them to any of their facilities. An overnight stay is not required anymore.

My only suggestion is that you have a cell phone and Callaway’s phone number before you go there. The outside phone was missing and no one around given it was 6:00PM Friday. I hate to see this airport gone because I would love to fly over for lunch, dinner or some golf.

Great airport! Very impressed that they are picking up the slack where Callaway is failing us day-trippers. Jesse is the FBO operator - very nice guy, very accommodating. If you are flying in this area, please stop here and fuel up. Keep this airport alive!

From Danny Stephens on 22-Jan-2007
The FBO operator will give you a ride to/from Callaway Gardens during his normal hours (10:00 am to 4:00 pm) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, in a car provided by the county. If you spend the night at Callaway Gardens, Callaway will pick you up and return you to the airport. Apparently Callaway Gardens wants this property for future expansion and the county is passively letting it go that direction. It looks like this airport may be lost if someone doesn't step up to defend it.

I called PIM and talked to Jessie who told me that Callaway is not providing transportation for day-trippers anymore. I called Callaway and complained. They said they are getting complaints and turning them into there directors. They said they are not providing service because they no longer own the airport. I told them yes but pilots are spending their money at Callaway. I suggest that every one call Callaway at 800-225-5292 and maybe they will change there policy.

Yep, just called the people @ Callaway to confirm they don't offer rides unless you stay overnight. Resort is 12 miles away from Pine Mountain, too far for a walk. Guess I'll go somewhere else for lunch today.

One of the best spots for the $100 hamburger, until now. Flew in Nov 5 only to find out that Callaway is no longer offering the van service to the airport, except for guests staying overnight at the lodge. So virtually there's no way to get to the several nice dining options. According to the extremely nice airport manager Callaway Gardens is trying it's best to let the airport die so they can keep the land for expansions, and this sure is very effective way to achieve that goal. Too bad. Such a nice spot.

We arrived Sunday May 14 and were met by the airport manager who quickly fueled our Cirrus. The van from Callaway Gardens arrived just as we finished fueling and in 5 minutes we were at the Mountain Creek Lodge. We enjoyed 2 days and 3 nights at Callaway and were taken back to PIM for our departure. A very enjoyable trip and very nice people. The FBO is only manned on weekends, but you can call at any time for someone to assist you.

It would be a shame to close this airport. It is a great fly-in destination. We flew in from FFC to eat the breakfast buffet at the resort. The van picked us up within 5 minutes. There is a tour of the gardens that leaves the lodge at 10AM and 2PM. We missed the 10 o'clock tour by 10 minutes. We didn't want to wait 4 hours, so we left. We'll be back soon for breakfast and the tour.
