Friendly service, fair ramp fee, $20 for a 310. Men & women showers. Pilot lounge could use upgrading, sleep room with beds. Good wi-fi, all in all not bad.

Arrived at this FBO without any ground support - not sure where they were. Waited in line to place the fuel order and then went to the courtesy refrigerator for a soda - which was empty for the second year in a row. Interior is very nice with comfortable seating...They just need to improve their ground services.

Landed at RFD to pick up friends for a $100 hamburger trip in our Cessna 206 to Pilot Pete's at Schaumburg. Having read previous comments I came prepared to buy gas to avoid the ramp fee, even though I didn't need it. The lineman shrugged and said "if you are going to be here for just a few minutes forget about it." The same thing happened when we dropped them off. It looks as if they have changed their policy for the better! Great place to stop, and our friends, both in their 80's, had no trouble at all finding Emery from the ground side. I'll use them again.

This place is impossible to find by car. The staff appears to be unable to give directions. If you know where it is and where to park, it's straightforward. Please add some signs. The other FBO on the field, as well as any other FBO I've been to, is trivial to get to.

From Adam Rosenbloom on 01-Sep-2009

Update from August 28th. I opened my mailbox today (September 1) to find a refund for the ramp fee Emery charged me for my stop last week, noting that I had purchased gas several times in recent months on the same tail number. Only four days separated my comment and the refund arriving. I want to thank Director of Line Services Larry Fisher for doing a fantastic job of bringing me back. If this is the kind of personal attention a whiny Cherokee driver receives, imagine what you'll get when you show up in a real plane. The gesture is greatly appreciated and I will be stop at Emery every time I return to RFD.

From Adam Rosenbloom on 28-Aug-2009

I've stopped in often for gas and always enjoy the low fuel prices. I'm probably at RFD three to four times a month. Today I didn't need fuel and was charged a ramp fee for my 15-minute stay to check weather. Next time I'll go across the field to North American where they do not charge ramp fees for short stops with no service.

From W. Tad Foster on 24-Jun-2009

On my return trip from KEAU to 4I7, there were numerous t-storms in Illinois and Indiana. I could make RFD without any problems. I had them top off my tanks for the final leg, and checked the weather and accommodations. This is a big place. Very nice accommodations for transient pilots. The staff was very pleasant, provided me a crew car for dinner and had my plane ready for a departure two hours later. I'll be back here.
