On behalf of the Russell Prairiesta Fly-In Committee I want to thank the nearly 500 people that attended our event. Chris Cakes of Wichita served 213 people that morning in one of the private hangars. Mr. Phillip Schulz was busy all morning with folk’s young and old reviewing the Walker Army Air Force memorabilia that was on display in another private hangar. Dick Chandler of Osborne led the RC Flyers in a dramatic display of piloting with flyers from Osborne, Lucas, Salina, Russell, and Hays. This part of the venue was a favorite as again, young and old were mesmerized by the skill of these pilots. We also want to thank the pilots for the Confederate Air Force out of Wichita with the aircraft that added the WWII agenda to our Fly-In. Also, a thank you to the pilots that flew in to place their aircraft on static display for the public to witness. Positive people create positive experiences regardless of those that work to deny such efforts.

There was no one around while we visited. Not a bad airport, just plan accordingly. They do have a crew car to get into town.
Response from Jesse Siler, City of Russell (FBO) Hey fellas if anybody needs assistance at the airport then I am in the white hanger just south of the main terminal building or you can reach me at (785) 483-6911 which is posted on the terminal building door! I am here and am a working mechanic out on the field! Thanks Jesse

Neat old building (used to have an active FSS there). Nice concrete runway and ramp. Lonely place. Nobody around when we stopped in...Good thing it's self-serve. Fuel price was reasonable. Wifi available.
