I called ahead to find how best to get into SBS and general information about the airport. Mike was very helpful in planning my trip in and extremely helpful in my departure. Everyone was helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend SBS over HYD because it is convenient to town (not 30 miles away), well maintained with a helpful staff. My family and I are looking forward to our next trip to SBS. A great big thanks to Mike!

As an Instru rated Pilot, my trip this year had new meaning. To fly mountain conditions would require great effort. These guys made it easy. As a pleasure Pilot, I've been to 50 FBO's in Fla. & met some great people. It was no surprise calling this FBO & finding an accommodating person. Aviators are a relatively small group but the shared love of aviation is a constant we've come to expect. My experience with the General Aviation FBO at this jewel in the Rocky' embodies that sentiment. I told them that I was up for a few days and desired a couple of hours left seat in a 172 with a CFI. Maybe I'm from a bigger City and accustomed to obstacles. What I got was an accommodating list of options and a sincere effort to meet my goals. How refreshing and truly indicative of everything that General Aviation is. Hats off to this little FBO and Don a consummate Aviator who makes me proud to be a part of this very special community. Keep it up guys, it's what we need for GA to survive.

I am based here and find our FBO staff to be very professional (see the other 14 posts on the site). We've had more than 30 FEET of snow since November; temperatures reaching 40 below zero! Yet our airport has remained open. Spare hangers here are very limited in the winter. Most are privately owned with a few airport-controlled ones. Fees can vary based on individual arrangements. Mine is rented occasionally when I'm away. It is unfortunate if this poster felt overnight fees were misquoted. Most of us who park elsewhere in bad weather are used to paying overnight hangar fees that can vary from ("this one's on us" to several hundred dollars) and we're glad to get our tin out of harms way. So, I urge pilots to continue their trips into Steamboat Springs, winter of summer. I'm sure the FBO staff will be clear on fees and we're all going to be glad to see you!

Worst customer service ever! I stayed for seven nights and topped off my aircraft, the last week of Dec. 2010. I requested that the aircraft be hangared on the last night and was told the fee was $75. When I came out to pay I was told it would be $200 plus $60 for heat since they didn't have room in the "normal" overnight hangar and they had to use a hangar that didn't belong to them. I refused to pay more than $75 as no one contacted me regarding the up charge that was over double what I was originally told. The "airport manager" as he titled himself, became irate and started yelling that I was being unfair. He even went so far as to throw my credit card at me and said I would pay double if I came again next year! Well they don't have to worry about that, as there are lots of places in CO to enjoy a ski trip. This was our fifth trip to KSBS and will be our last.

I arrived with weather at minimums, then stayed 6 snowy days at SBS. Mike helped us in every way. Very attentive to Unicom. Great winter advisories by phone and radio. Gave us extended use of crew car on arrival to get settled. Fueled and assisted departure perfectly. Only hitch was, I had called in advance to check price for overnight hangar de-ice/preheat and was told $35, but on departure I was charged $300! Mike said my tail was too high so he had to use a "corporate" hangar. Didn't warn me in advance when I called the day before departure. Shame about that mix-up, because everything else about my visit was absolutely perfect. Oh, overnight tie-down was $15/night with first night waived for fuel purchase.

Recently I had to overnight in Steamboat Springs because of weather. I couldn't have been treated better by the people in the FBO. Mike, in particular, was super in recommending good places to stay and eat. He really went the extra mile.

Just wanted to thank the FBO and the local pilots for their help last Saturday during their Wild West Air Fest. We had departed the airport and had a fuel leak. When we said we had to return to the airport, the UNICOM operator asked the pilots flying to stay clear of the pattern until we had landed. The pilots courteously complied. We had flown in on Friday to promote Angel Flight and were treated wonderfully by all of the FBO and airport staff. They have nice cars available and I agree with the previous commenter - Winona's is great!

Flew into SBS today. Runway is in great shape, 32 is the preferred takeoff and landing runway. Very nice folks at the FBO. Provided a great crew car and also showed us other routes people have taken to retun to Denver. $5 ramp charge, but what the heck--we still got the car. That is reduced by .25 for each gallon of fuel you buy. Go eat at Winonas. Best breakfast I have had!

We brought our B-25 "Pacific Prowler" to Steamboat Springs for their Labor Day weekend Airshow. This had to be one of the best events we have ever attended. We were there several days before the event started and they bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed. If fact eveywhere we went in Steamboat the people were very kind and generous. This airport, and the folks there, is how aviation should be.
