Be very very careful when using the BP self-serve pumps, which are run by Golden State. The system puts a charge on your card equal to the amount of gas you enter into the system. In a couple of days your card gets charged for the actual amount you pumped BUT the initial charge STAYS ON YOUR CARD UNTIL IT NATUALLY EXPIRES!!! If you're using a debit card you could have a large amount of your own money unavailable to you for several days. This is an archaic system that is totally unnecessary. Be careful! Use a credit card (with a generous availability), call a truck, or go elsewhere.

Quick and friendly service. Called them up from the trolley station, a very short walk from the west transient ramp, and by the time I got to the airplane, the fuel truck was right there, all the way from the other side of the airport.

Two of us arrived for the unveiling of the nearby KCBQ-AM monument on Mission Gorge Road August 28th for all who were on the radio in San Diego a few decades ago required an early Saturday morning arrival, and VERY early Sunday morning departure. The friendly staff at Golden State went WAY out of their way to quickly accommodate every need, including that departure for Las Vegas before they even opened Sunday morning. Thanks to Mike Estrada and the rest of the friendly Golden State team! Nice work guys.

Called today to inquire about & make some after-hours service arrangements. The guy that answered had NO idea if they could even "offer" after-hours service. Gave me a cell number & told me to call the "Line Manager, DJ" & inquire with him. When I asked him just to clarify whether or not they had after hours service, he said "I dunno - It's up to DJ if he wants to come out or not because he's in charge of the fuel". Called the provided cell number & got no answer. Called the FBO back & line guy asked me "did you leave a message?" REALLY?! I am supposed to leave YOU a message to give you my business? Sorry Golden State, you have lost our business.

Had another good experience with Golden State. Stopped by for the weekend, and the folks at Golden State were friendly and helpful. They brought our rental car out to the plane and fueled the bird promptly upon request. We'll be back.

One thing I love about Golden State is how fast they show up when we order our 100 LL fuel.

We visited San Diego for 3 days and parked our bird at Golden State. The tiedown was free, and the fuel truck pulled up within 2 minutes of our arrival. Our Hertz rental car was ready and waiting. Everyone was very friendly, and I felt happier supporting a local aviation business than the typical impersonal corporate FBO. We'll definitely make Golden State our FBO of choice in San Diego from now on.
