I was going to fly my BE-55 to Taos on Saturday August 20th. I called over 10 times during normal business hours with absolutely no one answering the phone. Finally I sent an email at 2:46pm on Friday asking about an 830 am arrival Saturday and asking for a cell phone contact. A response finally came at 9:12am the Saturday morning saying the FBO was open with hours of 8am to 6pm. By that point I'd lost interest in going to an operation that couldn’t answer the phone or respond timely to emails. Respondent was Kino who has been previously noted in comments re Taos on AirNav.

Flew in on August 12 and 15 to pick up friends and refuel between SAF and BJC. Very kind service from two different individuals who brought out the ladder and the hose to fuel recommending self serve, as it was 55 cents cheaper. What service! Kind and helpful counter people.

I only report it as I see it. On Sep 17, 2009 I flew a corporate jet to KSKX and reported a below expectations experience with Taos Aviation Services. (See report from my experience on Sep 17, 2010) Once again, I flew in a corporate jet to KSKX on August 10, 2011. Called in range and was answered promptly and courteously. On taxi in I was advised as to what would be the best taxiway to use and was also told where to park. As we approached the FBO, we were guided to the correct parking location behind another jet. We were to remain over night so we inquired about a taxi but were told they were not reliable so we were offered a crew car and a detailed map to our hotel. The following morning we were met bright and early for our departure. Once again the service was prompt and courteous. Just before leaving I asked the persons name. It was Kino Chavez. As I said before, I just report it as I see it.

We flew in to Taos today and were delighted with the excellent and friendly service, from some assistance on the ramp to the courtesy car. Thank you, Lena!

In today with our Turbo Commander N900NE and had 'best of' services for all our needs. Nice lobby for pax and crew and friendly staff throughout. Thanks folks. Well done.

White Sands Soaring Association Spent Memorial Day weekend at the Taos Airport. We brought three gliders. Everything was exceptional! Upon arriving, a young girl with black hair (sorry no name) met us at the FBO and went well above and beyond to help with self serve fuel at a decent price. Also, she showed us the FBO and services they offered. The Airport Manager came out both days on the holiday just to see if we needed anything. Great service! Great hospitality! Great Soaring! Great Weekend!

I have been coming to Taos from Dallas (KADS) for a long time. Kino and crew have always done an outstanding job and helped me out many times. This is a resort town and they run with a small staff to try and keep the cost down. Bring a little patience especially during the really busy ski holidays and call in advance, as hangar space is in short supply. I recommend on arrival taxi directly to the self serve fuel if you need 100LL (just left of the FBO hangar), they will help you out and tug you to parking from there. This saves you about .50 a gallon and sets you up for a quick departure. Also, for rental cars I absolutely recommend Charlie and Cottam Walker Ford (FBO rental car agency) they provide good cars at fair prices and most importantly the car has always been there when I arrive.

Flew from KBJC to KSKX today. Guy came out to help after we had tied the plane down in the long-term area (FBO go left). We were given crew car to go into town and had a great lunch. Overall experience was average. Would be nice to have someone come out to the ramp when you land. Called intentions 16, 9, 4 miles out so you knew we were coming. Was ok, but could be much better.

I contacted Taos Unicom on 6 Jan 2011. I requested a crew car but was informed that the crew car was taken. Upon arrival at Taos, I called the Rental Car service and asked to rent a car. The Rental Car service offered me a free car for one hour. The Rental Service then instructed me to have the FBO manager, Kino Chavez, call them. I then informed Mr. Chavez. Mr. Chavez became enraged and started pointing his finger at me and raising his voice to me in front of another pilot. He said, "You don't negotiate with the Rental Company! You talk to me first!" He then went on ranting something about how he could lose his contract and other things, which made no sense to me. Eventually he settled down and gave me the keys to a rental car but he never apologized for his misbehavior. Upon my return from lunch, he instructed me to always call Unicom, when inflight, if I wanted a car. Huh?? That's what I had already done earlier! Mr. Chavez's behavior was bizarre and inexcusable.

Parked C-310 and got fuel at Taos Aviation. Truly OUTSTANDING SERVICE! Kino is extremely helpful with all aspects of FBO operation. A highly experienced ex-military pilot. He "thawed out" acft and helped with cold-start. My favorite place to stop in winter since elevation is reasonable, no mountains to South or West and good fuel price.

Second stop at Taos Aviation Services in my COL4. Upon landing, voice came on Unicom asking how long my intended stay. Since it was only a fuel stop, she directed me to the 100LL SS pump. Before I had shut down, lineman was at ready with chocks. After shut down, he chocked the plane, confirmed I needed fuel, and when I answered yes he proceeded to ground the plane and pull the fuel hose out to the furthest wing tank. He offered use of the crew car several times while I fueled and offered to pull the plane to near by parking. I was also pleasantly surprised that fuel price was actually lower then that posted on AirNav. My wife and I used their lounge to eat our prepacked lunch, which was clean and well equipped inclusive of computer for flight planning/filing our next leg. Overall another good experience with Taos Aviation Services.

My experience with Taos Aviation Services at Taos Regional Airport was the same as experienced by Mr. Ganter. On Sept 27 I flew a corporate jet to SKX. We called in range, no answer. Upon taxi in no one came out to park us. The only time she spoke to me was to answer my fuel order. There was a complete lack of communication and interest. Too bad. I think in the future I'll recommend AXX.

From Lew Ganter on 13-Aug-2010

In all my years of flying into Taos I have never encountered anything but the highest standards of service and consideration. I have never felt ignored and have not felt that the line people were not interested in my presence or my patronage of Taos and the FBO. Apparently there is a new attitude of service at the FBO. A distinct lack of interest and communication pervaded the ramp on my most recent visit. My simplest requests were barely acknowledged I was surprised and disappointed at the lack of interest. " Ladies if you don't like the job find another one", you are making Taos look bad. Sorry to see it but those high standards are gone!

Response from Kino Chavez, Taos Aviation Services
It is unfortunate that Mr. Ganter's experience with Taos Aviation was unsatisfactory. I would like to address the specific issues but Mr. Ganter never checked in with the FBO so we have no way to contact him nor to fix the problems. It greatly improves our ability to service the customer if they drop by the FBO and leave us contact information. Unfortunately this regularly does not occur even after requests to do so from the line personnel. Pilots, please help us to help you! Come on in and say hello.

Stopped in April 5 for fuel and to recover from some pretty hefty turbulence and strong head winds coming over the Rockies from EAST to WEST. Nice facility, reasonable fuel prices--convenient and easy to use SS pump. FBO offered free use of nice crew car to visit Taos and have lunch.

FBO was great to work with. Rental car worked as well and was ready when we got there. Very professional.

From Wes Schlenker on 17-Feb-2010

Flew in, in our C210 for a skiing weekend. No preheat available, but for $25 they will put the airplane in the heated hangar and let it warm up as long as you want (1.5 hours was plenty). The line person squeegee the melting frost off while it was in the hangar, too. Before putting it in the hangar, she kindly towed the airplane to the self-serve fuel pump, and helped me fuel it and save $25 over full serve. So essentially the hangar was free. A fully loaded C210 seems like it uses a lot of runway at 7000 feet, especially on RWY 04, which is up gradient. Be careful in the summer.

Friendly and helpful staff. Normally they loan the courtesy car for 2 hours max, but it was a slow day and they were kind enough to let me use it a bit longer. Will be back. Thanks

From Daniel Miller on 03-Jul-2009

We stopped in for a 3-day summer trip. Joe and Kino were very friendly, helpful, and informative. Enterprise won't pick you up, but the FBO will help you get a rental car. We'll be back again! Great FBO service!

Top notch guys here. We came in for the skiing in our Cherokee Six. From start to finish, everyone there was a huge help.
