Stopped there on Sunday around 4P, not a soul in sight, but the Avgas pump worked well. Pulling the fuel hose out of the ground to fuel can be a messy affair.

Airport now has self serve gas pumps available with credit card use. Newly renovated pilots lounge with computer access. Steakhouse within walking distance across runway does have the best chicken fried steak on the planet. Same family cooking for 30 years! Walk to Days Inn as well.

On 17 October 2009, we landed at SOA hungry for the great chicken fry at the Sutton County Steakhouse but it was closed 2 to 5 PM on Saturday. So we took the van and drove to the Pizza Hut just south of I-10 to get delicious pizza AND spaghetti complete with an excellent salad bar. Congratulations, Sonora, you have at least two very nice eateries near the airport!!

On Sunday 6 September 2009, my wife and I flew in to SOA and walked over to the Sutton County Steakhouse Buffet. We were very pleased with the great chicken fry and the service. We wanted to let other pilots looking for a good "$100 hamburger" that this is place to go!!!!

Just contacted the City of Sonora. The telephone number listed for the airport manager, 325-387-2447, is now the AWOS recording. There is no airport manager. There is a number at the airport to call for fuel--someone will have to drive out to the airport.
