I have nothing but praises for KSRB. I've had 2 new Piper planes and all services performed there even though it is 1 hour from my home base. Always greeted promptly, work done expediently, and fair charges. I will continue to go there for my service work even though it is not nearly as convenient because of their high level of service & quality work.

I find the below comment VERY unproven. I have been servicing my aircraft with Averitt Air for over 4 years. Their facility and staff are second to none. I will not allow any other maintenance facility to touch my aircraft, electronics or upgrades. I have had minor work from oil changes to major work, such as annuals completed by Averitt. I have priced shop many of my requested work and nobody beats their price, attitude or service. I have recommended several other pilots to Averitt and all of them agree, THEY ARE THE BEST in the Nashville area!

Since Neal has left the maintenance has gone from hometown Sparta pricing to downtown Nashville pricing. Buyers beware. The gas pricing leads the way and Smithville or McMinnville will give you much better bang for your buck. For Service I recommend the new maintenance crew at CSV (Crossville) or the new group at Shelbyville, they will treat you right and will not quote you one price and backdoor you with another. Stopped at SRB for a couple of hours so wife could visit with family in Sparta. We have been flying into SRB 6-7 times a year for the last 5-6 years, usually staying overnight. The staff has always been extremely helpful and friendly. The facility is very nice and clean with everything a pilot needs for proper flight planning. I have noticed that the fuel prices at the airport seem to have become significantly higher than the surrounding airports over the last year or so ($4.49 vs. $3.69). Anyway, definitely recommend this airport if anyone needs a cross-country break.

Upon landing at SRB for fuel I found my nose tire had deflated en route. My wife, two dogs and I was on a cross-country from Southern Florida to Aurora, Illinois and found ourselves in this predicament just minutes before closing time for Averitt. Duty lineman Josiah answered our call for a tug. David, the airport manager called in Mike, the mechanic, with an air bottle to reinflate the tire. We cleared the runway and were towed to the maintenance hangar where Mike and his maintenance manager, also Mike, quickly reviewed their inventory for the necessary repair parts. They found a new inner tube, removed the nose wheel assembly, made the repair and got us to the fuel pumps, our original reason for stopping. No one said, "It's too close to closing time, you'll have to wait 'til tomorrow." Thanks to Josiah, David, and both Mikes for making the trip a positive adventure. If you need maintenance, I strongly recommend Averitt. And the team at SRB.

As a based pilot here, I will add my comments as well. Averitt does a good job in taking care of my needs, and the needs of transients. Yes, their fuel is a bit higher than other nearby airports, but when I compare it with the $5.28 I paid in Atlanta (KFTY), this is a bargain, and not much more than the average of $3.94 that I have paid for all of my fuel stops this past month (and I fly 40+ hours/ month). The airport board and Averitt seem to have a genuine interest in small GA planes (new lights, hangar improvements, added a pilot rep. To the board, and easier access to bathrooms and vending at night.) So what is an extra $3-5 per fill up worth to you in extra/ available services?

As a local patron/pilot I wanted to share my 2 cents on SRB. Great facilities and the guys here try to meet everyone’s needs. The guys on the ramp go above and beyond to make things right for locals and those passing through. I'd recommend a fuel/rest stop and while you are here check out the local EAA chapter and visit with us.

Wow. Looks like SRB is losing interest in maintaining their prior status as the lowest-priced fuel stop around. These days CSV, 8A3, RKW, and especially SCX are all much lower than SRB's price, according to the latest AirNav.Com fuel price listings. This on top of their overnight hangar fees going from $10/night to $75/night in just a few months' time. I devoutly hope that Averitt isn't going through an exercise of discouraging the "little guy" in favor of concentrating on the big iron. The politicians down there managed to get the old Cookeville airport (CJE) closed down on the promise of expanding SRB and making it friendly to all. They've done the expansion (and I'm told are planning more) ... Let's see if they'll continue to live up to the "friendly to all" part of the deal.
Response from Neal Ropp, Aviation Director, Averitt Aviation Yes our fuel prices are higher today than some airports that do not have as much traffic as SRB. We wear unlucky in timing with our last fuel load purchase, but we are trying to keep the cost down for all of our customers. Our overnight hangar pricing has increased and this has nothing to do with discouraging the "little guy" it is simply a matter of supply and demand. We have leased one of our hangars to local business and the other is mostly full of Maintenance and Avionics projects going on by our excellent team of technicians. This puts a premium on hangar space and I know Jimmie will work with all the customers to insure 100% satisfaction with your visit to SRB. Being a member of the local EAA chapter I know the cost the "little guy" deals with on a regular basis, so if you have a return trip scheduled to SRB please allow us to make it up to you. If you are in the area on May 20 please stop in and join our local EAA in a fly-in luncheon.

A wonderful place to stop. All the folks at the FBO are friendly and very helpful. This is our 4th trip up here and we now call ahead for a car for our arrival. Never any problems and the self serve fuel is easy to get to and a good price. Add this to your list of places to stop - you won't be sorry.

Flew in to spend just a few hours and then depart to my origin. Very nice airport, very nice people. Helpful... parked my plane right in front and left it there, then had no problem with me getting self serve gas (which was inexpensive and was the price they had posted. An excellent stop with nice facilities and people and good prices. Try it, I think you'll like it.
