As you approach the area, If you are coming in from the east, the terrain higher than the airport if far enough away from the field not to be much of a factor in VMC. The airport is pretty high, watch density altitude certainly on departure. Marshaled in to park, they had the car ready, very little air traffic in the area while we were there. Fueled correctly. FBO guys are also firemen, they asked question about the tie down points of the Trinidad (as they are a little different than some planes) before they did anything, smart! Nice airport facilities, runway, taxiway, apron in good shape. Terminal is fine, maybe a little worn, but fine. We will return!

The airport is staffed by members of the Ruidoso Fire Department, and they are the most friendly FBO I've ever visited.

3 day stay this time- Marshalled in, tied down, fuel truck within minutes. Nice FBO. Friendly Attendants. Must be the altitude. We arrived and departed during fantastic weather and winds were calm. If winds are strong we use Roswell. Rented a vehicle from the only source at this time, Ruidoso Rent A Car. Professional, standard paper work, reasonable price for the times, nice and clean used vehicles. Drop at the airport with notice. Remember the time change! Nice airport on a high plateau. Check density altitude. Many places to stay. Overwhelming in deciding. Recommend the Elegante for a hotel and Ruisoso Lodge Cabins. Many others to choose from. Try to visit off season and during the week.
