Made a stop on our way to visit some friends. What great service. Steve was about to head home for the night when he heard us coming. He waited to make certain we were fueled and had everything we needed. We stayed at the Blue Swallow! Check it out its website it is a piece of American history. Kevin, the motel owner, came out to the airport and picked us up and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

Wind necessitated a stop at TCC. Best part of trip was finding the Blue Swallow Inn on Route 66 in Tucumcari. It was fun joining Paul McCartney, Billy Bob and thousands of others who have experienced this 14 room hotel since 1937. The owner Bill and Terri have done a fantastic job in letting all of us enjoy this famous piece of Americana.

Same good experience reported many times here. Interesting, easy, friendly stop with cheap fuel and several crew cars. We will be back.

The perfect municipal airport fuel stop in this part of the country. Big airport with a couple of runway choices. Large fuel island. Friendly guy who pumped the gas for us, then gave us advice on where to find a good lunch in town and keys to an old cop car to borrow. Nice lunch, too. The little terminal building is pretty run down, but the gas is cheap and the folks are nice and I'll definitely be stopping in again.

Stopped here for a quick fuel stop. Large, but quiet airport. Guy came out to help us fuel.

Quick stop on a ferry flight. Airport attendant helped with a minor maintenance issue and had me fueled/oiled on my way in no time. Very friendly airport!

Stopped late in the day for fuel. Self-service worked fine. Airport employee checked on me before leaving for the day (and left the terminal building open for restroom use).

After all the great comments we were sad that it was clearly unattended (no answer on radio or telephone) as we flew over at 6:45pm on a Sunday. We'll try again on the next swing past.

Flew into KTCC for an unplanned weather diversion/fuel stop at around 11pm. I called Bill at the Blue Swallow Motel who was gracious enough to pick me up at 11:30 at night, even though he had already turned in. I highly recommend the motel, it was very clean as advertised, and Bill really goes above and beyond for his guests. In the morning I had a fully fueled Bellanca waiting for me. (The FBO has order sheets you can fill out if you arrive after hours.) The gentleman working the counter was very friendly as well. Great place to stop!

Had to self-service with 100LL as it was after hours, but that was fine. Bill from the Blue Swallow Motor Court came and picked me up - can't say enough about his service and friendliness! Gave me a beer (after a looonnnng day flying) and then took me to a restaurant for dinner. Next morning he returned me to the airport. Highly suggest staying at the Blue Swallow, a retro 40's motel. Great place and very attractive price!

Stopped in on 6/28/09. Excellent service by the airport staff member. Helped fuel the plane, and then towed it to the tiedown spot for the night. Bill at the Blue Swallow couldn't accommodate us, so he called Rich across the street at Motel Safari (575-461-1048). Rich came out to give us a ride to his motel, after a tour of some of the sights along old 66. Motel Safari is also historic, but has been updated with modern amenities while retaining the retro style. (Pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen TV, wireless network, etc.) He gave us a different tour on the way back out to the airport the next morning. This is THE definition of traveler service, and definitely the place for an overnight stop.

Ernie, the airport manager, fueled my plane quickly and efficiently, invited me to use his facilities for flight planning and gave me invaluable advice about the local terrain, the winds and the weather, helped me tie down my airplane and arranged for a local motel to pick me up at the airport (a substantial distance from town). The Swallow Motel is the best and most interesting thing in Tucumcari. As someone else noted, it is the oldest functioning motel on historic Route 66. Bill and his wife Terri, who own and run the motel, are the nicest people you'll ever want to meet. They have lovingly restoring the Swallow to its former glory, complete with an old cigarette vending machine in the lobby and black Ma Bell rotary-dial telephones in the rooms (though they also have high-speed wireless and all the other modern amenities). A real piece of history not to be missed. All in all a great place to stop, whether merely for fuel or for an evening at the historic Swallow Motel.

Had an unexpected stop at KTCC on 5/27/09 due to bad storms in our path on a trip from GA to Las Vegas. It turned out to be a very pleasant surprise! The gentleman at the airport fueled us quickly and connected us to Bill at the Blue Swallow Motel. Bill owns the oldest functioning motor lodge on historic Rt. 66 and will come to the airport to pick you up and bring you back. I Highly recommend this stop. You can experience great service and a piece of history all at the same time!
