First time flying into Tehachapi. Decided to fly up from LA with my 8-year-old to check it out. The airport is walking distance to downtown (3 blocks and across the railroad tracks). Decided to have breakfast at Apple Shed, a nice little country restaurant and gift shop. Well worth the trip. The people were friendly, the food good and OK prices. Not sure about some of the airport comments, however, as we didn't go through the terminal or auto gate. There is an unlocked pedestrian gate right behind the fuel pit that was fine for us. There's no pay phone and little need for one as my cell phone worked just fine. I'll be back.

Nice small town restaurants, short walk, just don’t get caught on the wrong side of the tracks when the train goes by.

Four different Saturday morning breakfasts ordered, each delivered exactly as ordered, and eight thumbs up as we left!

A very nice restaurant and country store, packed with people on Saturday (It is now the apple picking season). We waited 20 minutes to be seated, unheard of in the other near-airport restaurants. We browsed the country store and tasted bakery samples while waiting not bored at all. The food is excellent.

Stopped in on Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch. Great airport and the Apple Shed is very quaint, country-like with a very nice breakfast and gift/craft shop. You can eat inside or out on the tree-shaded patio.

Exit via the gate at self service and walk south across the field and across the RR tracks to town. Turn right at the main drag and the Apple Shed is the 2nd building on the right, an easy walk and about 1/4 mile. The food was pretty good and the locals filled the place. The bakery had several good looking items I would have liked to take home. The Apple Shed store had some very good books about the local RR.
