VIS was my first XC from WVI great experience met my grandparents down there, Desk staff was very friendly and went out with my family onto the ramp and told them which plane I was.

Flew into VIS for lunch today (9-16-07.) Self-serve 100LL was $4.10/gallon. A good lunch is a short walk away at the Holiday Inn's California Cafe. They had a pool but we forgot our bathing suits (oh well.) We did not interact with the FBO staff, but VIS seems like a good option for reasonably priced fuel, food, and a hotel room if needed. (There is a Comfort Suites right next to the Holiday Inn, a 5-minute walk from the airport.)

Delightful experience. Airport was clean and modern. Refueling was convenient and plenty of parking. Hotel adjacent to airport (as I recall it was a Hilton Garden Inn) was great for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to stop there again.

Flew in around 2PM on a Tuesday, it was a well-marked airport, reasonably price 100LL. Warning, the self-serve nozzle doesn't have automatic shutoff (yes, we washed the wing). Looked like a nice little terminal building but it was locked up, so we couldn't go inside.

I flew into Visalia for the Labor Day weekend. The desk staff was friendly and helpful. They had the plane fueled and ready for me on the day of departure as promised. Fuel was even $.10 less than AirNav price. No tie down fee with fuel even though I was there four nights. The only negative was using enterprise for a car as it is in the terminal next to the FBO. Clerk wasn't there as expected but did arrive after 20 minutes. This is not the FBO's fault but something to consider. KVIS is the best place to fly into if going to the Sequoia area. Good instrumental approaches and nice runways/taxiways. The FBO is fine if you have reasonable expectations.

I dropped off my Angel Flight passengers on the 22nd of February, and the desk clerk was extremely helpful. Our short stay was quite pleasant.

In defense of the last couple of neg. comments to VIS. I don't think its the city employees job in the back to go out there and fuel you up. They have been busy working the the various airport improvements that have been done and continuing to take place. As for AirNav.com udpated fuel prices, well it only works if pilots update it every now and then, so next time look at the last updated price date. I think its a great terminal to fly in and out of with all the services you can expect at any other airport. Great FBO's, several instrument approaches, Scenic Airlines service, charter, Western Air flight school, pilot shop, 24 hr self serivce fuel (unless you want to pay about $.30 extra/gl. and wait a few mins. for fuel truck), rental car, hotel, restaurant, park, and even tennis courts and a golf course all within walking distance. What else can you ask for?
