Wish all airports and FBO's were like this. Took a Cessna 182RG here, landed, tied down myself, got picked up by friends and family, left, came back a few hours later, and even asked if I owed a landing fee. None. Easy come, easy go. Now I guess if I would have used services I would need to pay, but unlike many airports that the minute you land, they see your little GA plane as a slot machine, waiting to crank the handle when you taxi to the ramp - not this place. Laid back atmosphere but great basic airstrip.

Stopped by Saturday to pick out my camping spot for the race next week (across from track). Much nicer than KTRI. Friendly folks, fair full serve fuel price. I will definitely be back. It's 25 mi to the speedway one way.

Flew in for spring race. We parked and tied down the plane ourselves. Rental car ready to go as promised. Not red carpet treatment but definitely easy in and out during busy race weekend.

Flew in for the weekend. A very friendly and courteous staff at this airport.

VJI is a great place to stop! The staff really goes out of their way to be helpful and the facility is first class. It would be nice however if wireless internet was an option and the pilots lounge could use some low level lighting for reading and maybe a work desk with internet terminal. Keep up the good work!

Stopped with an Angel Flight drop off and was treated great. Nice people, good prices, and great facility. Very clean inside and out. Recommended.

Good airport with reasonable fuel prices. It is a good alternative to the tri-cities air Nazis who charge $10 just to land and fuel. Was promptly fueled, and the FBO employee even let me use his personal laptop to check e-mail and file a flight plan. OVERALL GRADE: A

Visited for an overnight stay. Airport Staff was especially helpful. My motel had informed me there was Taxi Company I could use in Abingdon - however I discovered after arrival Taxi is out of business. Friendly Airport staff offered to drop me at my motel and pick me up next morning. The facilities are first class.

Flew in the other day for two days and was very pleased. Easy airport to get into and out of. Friendly staff. Great rental car deal: you can rent from Enterprise in town and pay $40/day for a Geo Metro, or you can rent a car from the FBO at $30/day (plus $.10/mile) or $35/day (100 miles free). The selection: a very nice 2002 Lincoln or a Ford Taurus (same price for both...No brainer, I took the Lincoln). Abingdon itself is a very nice town to vist, very historic and charming. If you're hungry, try Alison's Restaurant, about 2 miles or so down the road. Especially try the Potato Soup! Very reasonably priced; casual attire is fine. I'm looking for an excuse to return!
