Flew into your airport in a Cessna 182, was treated very poorly, the line guy was to busy washing his windows. Our battery was dead, we ask for help but received nothing. The hangar just north of the FBO, a guy was very friendly and let us borrow his battery charger. This won't ever be a fuel stop again unless it’s an emergency. Stay Away from VKS, go to MLU and use the self-serve.
Response from Frank May, Vicksburg Municipal Airport Board Our apologies for your apparently disappointing visit. However, as noted during our discussion regarding your dead battery, your C182 has a 24 Volt battery & electrical system. The FBO unfortunately has no 24 Volt GPU or battery cart, no 24 Volt battery charger nor any way to jump-start a 24 Volt powered aircraft. This was pointed out to you at the time along with our apology for not being able to assist further. If the aircraft had a 12 Volt electrical system, some accommodation would have been provided.

I came in "after hours" and was able to take advantage of the free casino shuttle to eat dinner. The shuttle was there less than 15 minutes after we'd landed - and they had absolutely no advanced notice that we'd be there that evening. It was certainly an unexpected surprise!

Visited Vicksburg and several area airports after purchasing fuel at Raymond, a short distance away. Discovered a $10 charge facility fee if you don't buy fuel at Vicksburg.

Frank and his crew were very pleasant during a stop to see the battlefield park. The city of Vicksburg now runs the airport. This means no courtesy car is available and fuel discounts are hard to get except for Angel flight. We had a great stop and ate a great meal at Walnut Hill (Frank's recommendation). I had to spend a lot more time than I do at comparable airports since I had to go to town to rent a car from Enterprise (who was also nice. In the future I hope that Frank can convince the new management to invest in a cheap car or two to use as courtesy cars and consider making the fuel price competitive with other small town airfields like Meridian.

Easy in and out for a quick casino run, friendly staff, great price for full-serve fuel.
