The Hooker airport will be down for the next 90 days starting June 13, 2011 for cosmetic changes. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best fuel price along our 1200-mile trip. No problems with the fuel. I had to hunt a bit for a ladder to fuel our Cessna. We had not expected to spend the night, but on arrival decided to check into the options. The only lodging in town has closed down, and a local reported no other options for 20+ miles. No crew car, and nothing obvious for food within walking distance. I suggest this only as a quick turn for fuel only.

I stopped for fuel on May 31st. The price for 100LL is the best around at $3.40. The self-service pump is in good operating order. It could help to have instructions on how to get a receipt at the end of the operation. Facilities have the basics nothing fancy. Computer terminal a bit old and was not on when I visited. Runway is in great shape. Caution with power lines at both approach ends of runway (north and south). Other than that, good fuel stop for the price.

I called the number on AirNav (it rang the county clerk's office) to see if they had fixed their fuel pump, which they had, and to see if gas was still $2.93/gallon, which the clerk said it still was. Between the time I took off on May 28th and got to Hooker about 3 hours later, somehow the price had changed to $3.40. Talk about a bait and switch, I'm not giving my business to them again.
