Interesting stop. Flight service helped out calling traffic; we landed on the hard surface runway, which is elevated well above the water channel in which floatplanes were landing parallel with us. Fun. Then we coasted downhill whee! into the parking ramp. Not really that steep but it makes a visual impression. Aero lent us a crew car and we took it on the ferry to town. Ate at Anna Belles, decent meal, and lots of other choices. Fuel is expensive but a good stop for hopping over Canada. Had to fly a back course localizer departure to the north before being cleared south. ATC will not allow you to provide your own terrain clearance.

Two stops (2 weeks apart) and two very different experiences. The first was just for refueling on the way to Anchorage. Line guy was surly, uninterested. The front desk staff was about the same. Unable to connect my laptop to their WiFi and they certainly didn't seem to care. Second stop on the way back to the lower 48 was the opposite. Very friendly and helpful staff on the line and at the desk. Helped us figure out how to get to town and a hotel. Parking for the plane is odd - down a fairly steep taxiway and quite out of the way. Bottom line - there aren't a lot of alternatives.

Decent line service, but be advised to confirm ferry times to/from your hotel/destination - K-town can be weird for private aviators. The whole town seems wired to Alaskan Air arrival times, or cruise ship schedules for activities. If you want the best seaplane watching, it's everywhere here.

Diverted into Ketchikan for weather in mid-October. Jessica and the folks at Aero Services were outstanding. Got us fueled and parked quickly and booked us a room at the Gilmore hotel with a great rate. FSS on the 5th floor in the terminal was very helpful with weather, routing and customs info. Hats off to both Aero Services and the FSS folks. Both very friendly and professional. Would definitely stop through here again.

In here last month & on the ground for only a couple hours... Nice facility, good service & friendly people. If you like to watch planes, this place is a lot like Anchorage (or almost any other Alaska airport near water :) ) - It's non-stop Beavers, Cessnas, Caravans etc...

Friendly staff! Would recommend visiting Ketchikan FSS on the 5th floor of the terminal also for a copy of the special air traffic rules for the Tongass Narrows area. You may arrange for your own customs by calling 907-225-2254.

Stopped here several times this summer in my C206. Friendly people and great facilities. Computer for EAPIS clearance works great. Hot chocolate in the lobby for my kids and use of a courtesy car to go to town overnight. Very GA friendly.
