Had failed charging system on the way to Teterboro in my PA32 Lance. Called and asked if a mechanic could stay late and have a look. The Grigging mechanic (Mark) troubleshooted the system for several hours past closing. Took me to a local Quality Inn and had the parts (new alternator) and had me going next morning. They operate quite a few Piper aircraft there and run a very clean and well stocked operation. Thanks everyone!

Another great experience with Griffing. Friendly, personal service. They continue to be an example of what makes general aviation so great in this country.

We visited SKY and Griffing Flying Service on our visit to Cedar Point yesterday. $35 for parking and transportation to and from the front gate at Cedar Point. Mr. Griffing himself worked on what was supposed to be his day off running the shuttle! First class operation! One note, there are tiedown chains instead of ropes. I would suggest bringing some rubber gloves because the chains are a little rusty, and some 1/4" x about 2 inch bolts with nuts. It is possible to tie the chains in knots, but a little more difficult. I'm sure that Griffing would have supplied whatever we needed also.

Good people great service only way to go for Cedar Point. Shuttle service makes staying on a park property the best option IMHO. Great experience with a family owned operation check out their nice Apache also.

My family and I stopped for the night on our way to New Hampshire. Great service! 182 was fueled followed by quick transported to Cedar point. It was so awesome, we stopped on the way back through! Family run business that epitomizes customer service! We'll see you next summer!

July 8th, 2009. This was my first visit to Griffing. Probably the most enjoyable experience I've had at an airport. Shuttle service to and from Cedar Point was fast and on time. The girls at the desk were awesome (sorry I cant remember your names), if you’re on facebook, add me!! Look forward to flying in again:)

Few in a week ago for a couple days at Cedar Point. What a great way of getting to the Point. The staff at SKY did a fantastic job of accommodating family and aircraft. Shuttle to/from the Point was fast.

We landed here for a day at Cedar Point and upon returning found "someone" (me) had left the master switch on. They were very helpful on a Sunday night getting the plane hangared and on the battery charger for the return trip the next morning. $35 for parking + the shuttle right to the front door of the park seemed more than reasonable to us. We'll be coming back!

A very nice GA friendly airport. We flew in and went to Cedar Point for the day. The airport fee was only $25.00 and this included the shuttle service to/from the park. I did buy fuel so perhaps that's the reason for the reduced fee. The shuttle service is worth the cost considering quick pickup/dropoff at the park. Friendly line and office staff made the trip hassle-free. Thanx!!

Stayed the night Monday the 14th. As previously stated, the FAA NOTAMs and AirNav.com descriptions are stale concerning newly repaved runway 18/36. FBO showed fine service and attitude, as we discussed a short shuttle ride to my hotel, and waived landing fees with refueling. Beautiful views on approach and landing!

Flew in for a day trip to Cedar Point. Newly paved runways are now marked, regardless of what NOTAM says. Unfortunately, I didn't get the reception I was expecting from reading other AirNav comments. There was confusion about the offer to waive the landing fee if you had breakfast in the restaurant (their webpage FAQ item #10). I received a matter-of-fact response that the statement wasn't true and I was simply wrong (although now acknowledged it was on the webpage, but still not true). A sincere attempt at believing me would've made all the difference. On a high note, very punctual shuttle service to / from Cedar Point – but also expected when paying $35 to land and leave the airport. Also, don't email them - call ahead with questions – they don't check email often.

Came in on 6/30 for a two day Cedar Point trip and had a great time. The plane was fueled and tied down within minutes of the arrival, and we were in line for Millennium Force within 20 minutes of our landing thanks to the free shuttle that is offered. The new runways are indeed very nice, and I will definitely be coming back.

Ditto-previous comments about great service from Griffing! New pavement on both runways, so you can ignore previous comments about poor condition of rwy 18-36, both are in perfect condition (just awaiting painted stripes and numbers). We spent the day at Cedar Point, and Griffing dropped us off and picked us up at 9:30PM (4 hours after FBO closes!) to take us back to the airport. The airport is privately owned and operated, so all the manicured grass, shiny pavement, and the helpful, well-trained staff are the result of a very well run FBO. Thanks!

Overall a nice and friendly airport. All the runways have been recently repaved (a week ago) and are in great condition. The staff was very helpful, they provided us a free ride to our hotel. They also provide free shuttle to and from Cedar Point. The only downfall is that they close at 5:30, so don't expect to get fuel or use the bathroom any later than that. They seemed very flexible, they offered to pick us up from Cedar Point even after their closing time. We enjoyed our experience at Griffing Flying Service and would definitely recommend them to anyone flying into Sandusky.

Flew in Memorial Day weekend to visit Kalahari (outstanding indoor/outdoor waterpark) and Cedar Point. Was greeted on the radio as I taxied to ramp area inquiring if I needed parking and then ground transportation. Friendly lady at the desk managed in one quick call to accomplish what I had not in 3 advance calls -- namely to get Kalahari to come and pick us up. Turns out the owner of Kalahari had flown in hours earlier and the desk staff (knowing I was coming in) had found out who to contact and how to reach them. Got a quick response and was at Kalahari within 20 minutes of landing. Runway 18-36 is in pretty bad shape but the preferred runway 9-27 is fine. Line crew tied me down in deep grass on soft ground and it took me full power on my 300hp Skylane to extract myself at departure. $10 for two nights tied down in a single. Other than the grass parking, everything here was great.

We arrived in SKY around 8 PM local, on April 26th (Saturday). No one was at the FBO, so we decided to walk to a pizzeria about a mile from the field. Not bad food, just wish it was a little bit cleaner inside. Departing and arriving SKY was very simple, very little traffic and lots of ramp space. Overall, a good experience...Just wish the FBO would've been open for our visit.

Flew in for customs on en route to pick up a plane for import to Canada. Customs was fast and efficient (even checked our plane for radiation). Owner himself filled our plane, and gave us the quick tour as they had a plane for sale I was considering. Fast and friendly and recommended. Always a crosswind when I go there!

Flew in Memorial Day weekend, staff offered reduced fuel after mid-night, shuttle to and from Orange line, and passenger escort to plane on departure. Flew in again on the 27th of July, field condition is not great. No parking direction available from field crew, either. I had forgotten my tow bar, and we pushed the Cirrus to parking, damaging the nose wheel fairing in the process, as they had no attachments for Cirrus for their tug. Parking was $35 as we did not buy fuel or pay for transport. They were very nice, but field service and condition is poor. Hope they spend the $35 on the runway!

What a treat to meet Tom Griffing and to experience the friendly atmosphere of this airport. For 25 bucks you get to land here and they shuttle you to and pick you up at Cedar Point (the ROLLER COASTER CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!). We were allowed to pitch a tent for the night and were given access to bathroom facilities. Jack's Pizza Deli was a half-mile walk. Great food and the owner drove us back to the airport!
