This is our third year going to Ocracoke Island for our anniversary and we've stayed at the Thurston House the last two of those three times. We flew in and called Howard's Pub for a shuttle even though we could've easily walked. Then we walked to rent bikes. Bikes are the best way to get around on the island and the Thurston House is the only place to stay. Great rooms, great prices, and a great breakfast...Among other things. I hesitate to give away the secrets, but we'll just have to call a little sooner next year to get a room now.

My wife and I stopped in at W95 for a few days last week, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Donna at the Thurston Inn was an outstanding hostess. She really knows the island and went out of her way to make sure we were well taken care of. We will definitely be back. Hopefully sooner than later. We actually walked from the airport to the Inn with our luggage, but next time we'll probably either call Donna for pickup, or walk in without the luggage and pick it up later. We rented bicycles for a couple of days and that was really the best way to get around the island. The beaches are beautiful, and the collection of restaurants must be experienced to be believed.
