Flew in for a one-night stay 6/7/08 to 6/8/08. Airport is very friendly, but the houses are closer than they seem in the picture; taxiways seem to go through people's back yards. Not wanting to disturb the locals, I opted to back taxi down the runway. Cheapest gas in the area, but if you don't need any the landing fee is only $5. Great little airport.

Flew a Mooney in on 3/31/07 for fuel. Small, friendly airport and operation (AirNav fuel price was out-of-date, higher than listed, so call ahead to make sure). TPA Approach was eager to help us pick up our IFR flight plan after takeoff (originally filed for departure from another airport), in spite of being busy. Will use again.

Flew into Pilot Country last night. The FBO was very courteous and filled our tanks even though we got there at closing time. Be aware that the photo on this website was old. Many trees have now grown to full height. It feels like you are landing in people’s back yard so the taxiways were obscured. For those of us unfamiliar with the airport I had to backtaxi and delay incoming traffic. Great little airport though. I am envious of everyone having a plane parked in their backyard.

Price currently is $3.09 with cash, check or Chevron credit card; otherwise they add 10 cents to price.

A couple of things. First, the advertised price of $3.79/gal is a little tricky. That's what it says on the FBO board, but underneath and not very obvious it lists several credit cards for which that price applies. ALL OTHERS, including the AOPA card, rings up the charge of $3.89 per gallon...So heads up. Also, there are very few tie downs and if you get there when those few are occupied it's a Rube Goldberg operation. I was told to park my plane next to the fuel farm...But I noticed there was no tie down holders in the concrete. "Just chock it, " I was told and I declined to leave the plane untied. Then I was told to put it in a gravel area behind the FBO, which I did but was uneasy about - and there was no tail tie down. Any plane taxiing out of there could easily throw gravel. It's not a good operation and I'll call ahead before going in next time if I'll be there overnight.
