Definitely no frill although the building is very clean and nice. I guess some people have grown accustomed to folks swooning over them when they taxi up. Arrived in a BE200. No lineman so I parked myself right in front of the door, shut down and grabbed some chocks. Had to use the advertised code to open the door to the terminal. Big comfy chairs in the lounge. Courtesy car was an old Lumina or something but everything worked. Some history on display in there. Guess KTRL was a British flight school in WWII. Pretty cool. All told it was a good stop. Oh, did I mention I topped the plane off because Jet A was under $5 a gallon without any discount? Don't know if I'll ever need to go back but if I do I'll be fine with it. Only irksome thing was when my pax got back for the trip home, the gal behind the counter had gone to lunch so we had to wait around until she got back to pay for the gas.

At KTRL, be prepared to find the terminal building inaccessible. There is a typical "rural style" FBO for SE piston, and a modern terminal building. I didn't comprehend, even with a preflight scouting report, that, while a Fire Dept Administrator works at the terminal building, there are no aviation personnel there. I was flying in a light jet and 8 passengers, and encouraged to park on the spacious ramp at the terminal building. Upon arrival, no one was there to assist with parking, luggage, etc. Upon departure Sunday, I arrived to find the terminal building locked and unstaffed. FBO Mgr said I should depart from the FBO, but, "if they could find the key, they would come to the terminal and let me in". If the key couldn't be found, I would have to taxi the aircraft to the FBO, or, have the passengers tote luggage from the FBO to the terminal ramp (1/4 mile away) in 90-degree heat. Fortunately, the key was found. We left 4 rental car keys in the unstaffed, unlocked terminal building.Response from Melissa Hardin, VP, Owner, Terrell Aviation We value your comment. Yes, we encourage parking at the terminal, we are proud of our facilities and want to show it off whenever possible. Current Terminal Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm Closed Weekends and Holidays. Call Terrell Aviation for fuel service needed at the Terminal 972-524-1601. Or assistance with after hours gate access. Tiedown area and FBO are located on the NW end. Hours are 8AM-8PM 7 days a week Monday through Sunday. We look forward to your next visit.
