  The pavement at the end of runway 26 is in poor shape. If you use the full length of runway 26 when landing you will need to back taxi on runway 26.

  Flew in for a good lunch today at Lodi Airport. Fencing is in the process of being built between the cafe' and Runway 26 threshold. Fuel prices aren't great, but below average for the area right now. Runway 26/8 surface covering is not bad, but the undulating surface makes takeoff a bit of a challenge as ground effect kicks in...

  Lodi does have a very active jump school with hundreds of jumps per day. Weekends are always very busy. Jump planes will frequently use alternative runways/directions even with aircraft in pattern and with limited radio calls. LZ for jumpers is at the approach end of RWY 30. Recommend 26. Three flight schools operate from this airport, one PPL, two UL/SP – one fixed wing, one flex wing. Café has limited hours. Airport security is nonexistent with unsecured gates and access. Location along major highway.

  We tied down for a night recently, bought some fuel and departed the next day. Nothing too exciting to say about the place. As others have said, watch out for other traffic and don't expect that everyone has a radio. Also, watch for cars on the approach end of 26. Interestingly, there is no fence/curb/signage between the parking lot and the runway and car traffic is often on the runway.

  I love visiting airports. But I've got to say, in 21 years and over 4, 000 hours of aviating, I've never been to an unfriendlier airport than Lodi. I've been to Lodi six or seven times, and EVERY TIME some grouchy guy on the CTAF hassles me and questions what I'm doing. "Are you training? No training allowed here. Stay away from the jump zone. You can't do multiple landings. What are you doing here?" And so on, and so forth. The jump operation believes it owns the airport, and does all it can to discourage visitors, transients, and anyone else not wearing a chute. As far as I'm concerned, they can have Lodi Airport to themselves, because I don't intend to return.
