Great little airport, nice friendly service--but call ahead if you need fuel! They were out of AVGAS the day I arrived....

The guys at Bauserman were great! Friendly and laid back but this entry is about Stephens' Limo Service. I read about them on an earlier post on AirNav. I called and set up with Stephen 2 days prior to arrival. I called him back the day before and confirmed an 11AM arrival on SUNDAY! I landed about 1030 and Stephen drove up within 10 minutes (20 minutes prior to my scheduled arrival time). Stephen was very friendly and helpful suggesting places to go see and eat while in DC. A fast 20-minute ride and we were at the capital unloading at the hotel. My mistake it was the wrong hotel! When I went to check in I found I was reserved at the Hyatt Grand - not Regency. A quick call to Stephen on his cell and 10 minutes later he was back and whisked me to the correct hotel - again MY mistake. I highly recommend Stephens’ Limo (301-645-5151) Tell him Ed from NC recommended him!!

After reading the AirNav comments I picked 2W5 for my trip to D.C. The staff at Bauserman was friendly and helpful. They do not have a tug or a fuel truck so you must taxi to the fuel tanks and to the grass tie down area. The birds are a problem in the spring so plan to plug the cowling if you are there for even one night. My arrival was uneventful in this complex airspace. Just maintain your assigned squawk code and follow instructions carefully. On my departure I called 1-800-WXBRIEF and they could not give me my clearance but they did give me the phone number for Potomac ATC 866-599-3874.

Great people. Jack and his gang are worth visiting. The runway is in fair condition. We had a meeting in Washington DC and used Herman and Al at Stephens' limousine service (800-297-0101). The best limo service I've ever used and a lot easier (and less expensive) than having to park a rented car in the city for 4 days. In and out of the ADIZ was a non-event. The hardest part was 5 phone calls to our new Lockheed-Martin flight service in order to file a flight plan.

The inexpensive rental car is gone, but the airport is still the best around if you need to get to Alexandria VA. The best of all is the people. From Gilbert the air boss to the last of the folks there you just get the warm feeling of being at home, between friends.

Stopped at 2W5 during a recent visit to southern MD. These folks are great! They helped arrange a rental car when no other FBO in the area could (or would). The atmosphere is warm and friendly; the "boss", Gilbert Bauserman, helped with directions to our destination and there is a cash discount for fuel purchases. The facility is a bit older, but full of character..The way flying used to be. No hassle getting into or out of the ADIZ. Try this place if you're headed this way.

This airport is not for the Gulfstream executive types, but for us mortals requiring easy access to the southside of DC, it is an excellent choice. The staff and locals are extremely friendly and helpful, and you can't beat the rental car rate ($30/day plus tax). Note that the airport has only daylight operations and it is located within the Washington ADIZ, but I had no trouble by filing IFR arriving and departing. Patronize this FBO!
