We stopped in for fuel on our way out west. I have stopped into 54J before and have always left feeling good about the service and treatment I received there. Good fuel prices, nice FBO, and very courteous and helpful line staff. Thanks guys.

Outstanding FBO. Will most definitely stop here again in the future. Probably one of the best places I've had the pleasure of stopping at. Easy in and easy out. Stopped during the day and was marshaled into the fuel pumps by the line guy who meet us with an umbrella since it had started raining. Although I was getting self serve fuel, the line guy fueled my plane while I ran inside the FBO. They offered a crew car to go grab something to eat. I would go out of the way to stop here again in the future.

Great stop. These folks are real friendly. We spent a couple of night in Fort Walton. Easy drive and way better fuel prices here than at Gulf airports. If you reserve a car through Enterprise I suggest a follow-up call to them, since they brought my car to the wrong airport (CEW). Will stop here again next time I am going cross-country. (Was heading home from the Bahamas and decided to stop for a couple of nights)

I have flown into the Destin area since the early 1980's and am quite familiar with all the airports since I have second homes in the area. While I am writing to praise this airport and BOTH Scott and Ryan, the fact is that even though DTS is closer to my homes, I have a hangar at 54J and I have never regretted it for one minute. I once told the people at DTS that given they’re over charging for everything, I would rather own the FBO there than have a license to steal. The City also needs congratulations because it is very clear that a decision was made to upgrade the airport and the City appears to be doing everything in their power to move as fast as they can to do just that. Again, one just cannot say enough good things about the people at 54J - Ryan and Scott in particular - and the fuel prices are so reasonable that we all really need to support this airport be it local or just passing through.

Nice airport, small rise in the runway landing on 9. Lineman marshaled me to the gas pump and pumped all the gas for me at self-serve prices. ($5.21). Nice little Toyota crew car for a short drive to Ed's Hamburgers - excellent greasy spoon type spot. D. Springs doesn't have much to look at but if you are looking for some cheap gas and a good meal I recommend it!

Flew in to DeFuniak Springs 1/29/2013 line person parked us and quickly offered fueling assistance at their self-serve 100LL of $4.95 per gal. Including tax great price thanks. Upon our departure had a starting issue, Ryan quickly procured alternate battery power for us and we were on our way. Can't thank Ryan enough the people at Monarch Aviation MX were friendly and willing if we had needed further assistance highly recommend DeFuniak Springs as a great fuel stop or MX they are also building new T-hangars, 30 I believe thanks again...

Stopped for avgas. Self-service, price was great. Wasn't really self-service though since FBO staff did all the fueling in spite of my offer to help. Great place to stop! Thanks.

12/29/12 Excellent fuel prices with friendly lineman assistance at the self serve pump. Nice clean facility. I would stop there again any time I am in the area. Highly recommend.

This is what aviation is all about. A great facility who's customer service and fuel price is superior to those high dollar "chrome and glass" FBO's that charge you just to walk thru the door. Helpful, friendly, and always happy to see you. *** And if it's lunchtime, grab the crew car and head a few blocks down the street for Ed's Pub Burger. It's fantastic. Ask them to save the grease because it will be enough for your next oil change :)but man, is it good! I wish this were my home base. 54J is a great place to visit, they put the "Fun in DeFUNiak Springs"

I stopped by today looking for a place to base my Cessna 195. It's at Destin now, and they are friendly, but everything there is WAY overpriced. I loved 54J - Ryan was very helpful. I hope I can get a hangar here soon.

This airport is an absolute jewel and having a topnotch maintenance and avionics facility (Monarch) onsite is just icing on the cake. Scott and Ryan are two of the most pleasant people you will ever meet and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and appreciated. This is a must stop for fuel and they have the best prices in the western panhandle of Florida and beyond.

54j is my home airport and I too find it to be the best. In reading the reviews what stands out is the quality of service mentioned. Believe me this is the norm. Since I am based at 54J I see the aforementioned service each and every day. Kelly, Scott and Ryan do a wonder job not only to our visitors, but also to all. It is the consistent theme at 54J. "Good Friendly Service" to all.

We used 54J as a fuel and lunch stop on the way home from a family trip to south Florida. It couldn't have worked out better! Great airport, low fuel price, super-helpful staff, and great burgers at Ed's.

On business for Able Flight, I needed to overnight in DeFuniak Springs (54J), an airport I had last visited some years ago. Since that last visit it's obvious that a great deal of effort has gone into upgrading the facilities. The service by line technician Scott Singletary was excellent in every way, and I was made very welcome by Airport Services Supervisor Kelly Schultz. Due to my late arrival it wasn't possible to get a rental car, so they loaned me the courtesy car for the short drive to the lodgings they recommended, the locally owned Hotel DeFuniak. The hotel is in a restored building on the town's main street and my stay there rates high on the list of the best experiences I have had anywhere while traveling. The service was outstanding, the prices matched the less desirable national chains nearby, a great full breakfast was included, and adjoining the hotel is Bogey's, an excellent restaurant. For both the airport and lodging, this is how it should be done.

It's difficult to tell this is "self service". Ryan flagged us in right in front of the self service pump. By the time I got out of the airplane, it was grounded, and he was standing with the fuel nozzle at the far wing. I guess the self service part means the pilot has to take a credit card out, run it through the reader, and turn around to watch the line men fuel the plane. Excellent service, friendly folks, and a great little FBO with a crew car to boot!

Stopped at this airport en route from Key West to Houston because of the cheap gas and it was a real find. In addition to having the best priced gas we could find in the panhandle, the friendly airport staff assists you in filling up, has a nice FBO area with coffee, sodas, and snacks, a computer station and wireless internet for weather, a well maintained porch with swings, and a courtesy car to take you on the easy 1/2 mile drive to the "famous" Ed's hamburgers where you can have a homemade 10 oz hamburger with everyone in town. I recommend this place highly!

Flew in to DeFuniak yesterday and the service was excellent. Very nice and clean facility. Used the courtesy car for some business nearby and Scott pumped my fuel from the self-service pump when I returned. Great price on fuel too!

Fantastic service, checked around the area and found K79J to be more than one dollar cheaper than the surrounding airports. Scott provided full service even though we taxied up to the Self Service pump. Suggest Defuniak Springs. As a less expensive alternative to KCEW and just minutes apart.

Exceptional service by Scott. He flagged me right up near the fuel tank and provided prompt fueling service. In addition, he took the time to show me how to use the new self service panel just in case I came in during off hours. I would highly recommend using Defuniak over CEW if you're traveling along the Florida panhandle for fuel any day...Easy in and out service, much lower fuel prices and a staff that genuinely cares. Well done!

Best fuel stop in Northwest Florida. Scott and Ryan go above and beyond to exceed the customer's expectations. Service was fast, friendly, and highly professional. I was very relieved flying in to find out that the approach to runway 09 had a GPS (LNAV+V).

I fly into this airport twice a month and its the best little self serve airport in the panhandle. Much more reasonable than DTS and less headaches during holidays. Staff is friendly and fuel is reasonable compared to DTS or ECP. Two GPS approaches make IFR landings a breeze. It’s my airport of choice when staying along 30-A.
