Stopped in for fuel. Pumps were self-service and rather inexpensive. There was no one in the FBO, was very empty, but it was beautiful on the inside.

First of many future trips to 58M! Besides my Mooney being temper mental, it was a great time here! Met great people, Thanks Robert, Kim, Frank, Roger and everyone at 58M for making me feel at home and helping me get airborne again! The low, low, low, fuel prices aren't the only thing that will make me return!

Exceptionally friendly service. Very nice new terminal building with weather and flight planning access. We were offered (and accepted) a courtesy car and given access to a local waterfront restaurant with great crab cakes.

Was just flying around today and decided to land at Cecil County. Been flying over it for decades. Despite what one writer stated the approaches are fine and the runway is in good shape. I got out and walked around, they have built a new terminal that looks like it was just completed. I talked to the owner of the airport for a bit a nice fellow and truly dedicated to aviation. If you have a chance go there and support him.

Stopped at Cecil County, having trouble with an unsatisfactory mag drop and it looked like our trip home would have to be cancelled. Roger at Cecil Aero came to our rescue. Even though he already had plenty of work, he took mercy on us and diagnosed our problem in about five minutes and has us going in about an hour! Thanks, Roger. The FBO was adequate, though there was no Internet availability. If wind is not a factor, runway 31 is best for landing due to the uphill slope.

I visited 58M yesterday (8/15/09). The airport is easy to find from the south. Keep Chesapeake City off your right wing, cross the canal, and head slightly up the Elk River. You'll easily spot 58M off you left wing @ 2500ft. I used runway 13 and found treetops close to 150' off that end of the runway. There is a displaced threshold and a downward slope when you choose 31. No problem if your good with short field procedures. The woman staffing the FBO was very friendly and helpful. I was able to borrow a courtesy van for the 4-mile ride to the local McDonalds. If you're not short on time, I understand that there is a great seafood restaurant at the local marina. 58M have a new FBO building under construction and improvements being made to the taxiway for Rwy 31. Parking area had ample tie down space, and who can beat the $5 tie down fee, when compared with big airport prices. This is a great little airport and I look forward to visiting again.

The owner greeted us on Sunday, and gave us a ride both ways to nearby Dockside restaurant for lunch. He and his wife helped us file IFR back to Leesburg, VA, and were very accommodating. Filing is tough since cell phone reception is spotty: it took forever to get a release because of dropped calls. Use airborne pickups whenever possible.
