If you're just stopping for gas, use the pump on the south side of the runway. Easy in, easy out.

Filled up without any problems, except for 2 large black snakes that were hanging out in the top of the fuel shed. They caught my eye when the 5+ pounder fell next to me on the floor, and crawled out the back. Think they were just rat or king snakes, but keep your eyes open.

Do not use Enterprise; had called a few days ahead to arrange to have a rental car waiting, but when we got to 6A2 there was no car from Enterprise--and when we called the office could not arrange a car for the day. The staff at 6A2 actually gave us a couple of courtesy rides (their crew car was being repaired). Friendly service at airport; not so friendly at local Enterprise

Flew in with no notice, that's not very unusual for a pilot! Daughter had a softball tournament in town. Robert Mohl (airport director) offered up car and suggestions for hotels and dining, what a lifesaver! Oh, I don't want to forget, it was right at 5 o'clock and I know he was ready to get out of dodge, but he still pleasantly helped me. Stops like this make me wish all FBO's had this kind of service, no visit is ever the same, but when you deal with nice people who enjoy what they do, everything is easier. Thanks Robert, I appreciate your style!

We flew in on Friday at about 0730 (on the way to LAL) to pick up some friends that were flying down with us. FBO not open. No restrooms. Dropped them back off at noon on Sunday. Nobody around. Almost wrecked our airplane trying to pull it over to the self-serve pump - that did not work - after we went through all the sign-on, credit card, grounding cable, etc. The ramp is very downhill. Don't go there. We had to taxi to another pump on the other side of the runway. This one worked. Fuel was more - $4.90/gal. This is a run-down airport that needs a lot of work.

Great service. We arrived needing to make an appointment on time and the crew car was not available. No problem for the staff at Griffin/Spalding - Robert drove my family to the appointment and then picked us up two hours later. Thanks for the personal attention. Keep up the good work. We will definitely be back.

6A2 isn't the best airport to fly into unless you just have to and it really isn't pilot friendly either. The Gas Pump by the FBO looks as if it's 100 years old, it took me 30 minutes just to pump 10 gallons without it shutting off continuously. Not to mention the Gas Pump by the FBO is located down a slope, which makes it very inconvenient as well. Not an airport I'll be flying back to anytime soon unless it's an absolute emergency.

Flew into Griffin to attend a two-day EAA TIG welding seminar at the Alexander Tech Center adjacent to the airport. The FBO Manager and Airport Director, Robert Mohl, simply could not have been more helpful. Prior to my arrival I arranged for a rental car to be dropped off by Enterprise and Mr. Mohl handled the transaction promptly when I arrived and then rounded up some rope to tie my airplane down when the tie down straps I carry were a little too short for their anchor spacing. Fuel was very reasonable and the self-serve pump worked, as it should. The FBO waived tie down fees with my fuel purchase, even just the six gallons I bought. Everyone I met was very friendly and helpful. Griffin is a good fuel stop and a great place to overnight if you need it.
