The airport is used extensively by the Lufthansa, Pan Am & Westwind training operations down in the valley for non-towered airport experience. At times, you will be 4 or 5 deep in the pattern to get on the ground & the foreign dialects can be confusing on the radio. Once on the ground, you can get the courtesy car after filling out the form and calling the local police. The FBO is never open & there is nothing on the airport in the way of food, supplies, etc. Could be a really neat place, but basically abandoned at this time.

The loaner car at Wickenburg is available at all times now. A very courteous volunteer at the FBO explained the procedure, which is to fill out the information sheet, then call the Wickenburg Police on the phone on the front of the building. The Police will give you the code for the lockbox that contains the car keys. Very handy. Fuel prices are better than any in the Phoenix area.

Wickenburg is now an unattended airport, at least on weekends. On the up side there is a courtesy car available Friday afternoon until Monday morning (with 10 mile/2 hour restrictions.) On the down side if you're staying overnight they want a $7.50 (single) tiedown fee. If you dare to arrive in a turbine powered plane its $100 right off the top, forgiven if you buy $100 in fuel. Someone at E25 must have read "How to Drive Away Business in 10 Easy Lessons."

I parked the plane for three nights, never met anyone from the local FBO. There seems to be a courtesy car, however I did not require it. The combination for the FBO works only on the door facing the street, away from the airfield, which gives you access to a restroom only. There is a tiedown fee of 7.50$ per night for single engine aircraft. Bring an envelope and leave the fee in a mailbox next to the gate.

Flew in during the week just for a visit and coffee break. FBO was locked tight and combination provided did not work. Never did find a restroom. Be very careful when taxiing in the FBO area. There is a light post that is well marked but dangerously close to where you would swing your plane around. The cyclone fence looks like it could bite low-wing planes. Overall, I was disappointed, as I had heard the people were friendly but I never saw a person. Runway and taxiways were excellent.

Disappointed to find the FBO is no longer manned and no crew car. If you bring your own lunch there is a nice ramada to eat under though. The locals were in the building with donuts and coffee so all was not lost, but I sure was looking forward to chicken fried steak!

Our group flew in the Sunday and was disappointed to find there no longer is a courtesy car available. Our business at the Golden Nugget couldn't happen so we moved on.
