I stopped at Athens several months back on a solo XC prior to getting my private license, and was greeted with all the friendly conversation, cold soda and cheap AVGAS a guy could ask for at Athens Jet Center. Not long after departing the airport cafe in Tyler for home today my passenger told me he needed a restroom stop. No sweat, I thought, Athens is just over there and we could use a little fuel anyway. We arrived around noon on a Saturday and found the place was deserted and the building was locked up. My passenger ended up up "roughing it", but hey at least the Texas bidet (garden hose) was available. We put $150 worth of AVGAS in our tanks and we headed off for home. I understand if there isn't enough business to keep staff around on the weekends, but how about getting some kind of after hours building access set up, or at least drop a porta-potty out by the pumps?

Talk about customer service. We flew our Baron into Athens this past weekend to attend a friend's wedding at a nearby ranch. Called the day before to arrange for a vehicle and Wayne advised us that the local rental agency had already committed their vehicles for the weekend, but to fly-in anyway as he was sure he could solve the problem for us. After we landed and refueled (at a very attractive price), Wayne handed us the keys to his personal vehicle to use for the evening. A true gentleman and one of the best customer service experiences in 30+ years of flying.

This is certainly the cheapest fuel on the field but if you want service and attention (and a bathroom) pay a little more and go next door.

Athens is a great value for fuel! They are also very nice people who gave us a ride into town. If you need cheap fuel provided by nice people, this is most definitely a good stop.

Athens continues to be a good value for fuel. Last week it was $3.49. There is no restaurant on the field, but if you call ahead with your order, they will arrange to have catered food at the facility for you to purchase when you arrive.

The Athens Jet Center is a perfect example of great customer service. We pulled right up and were fueled, great weather room, and very low fuel prices. They really went the extra mile for us, and I would highly recommend the Athens Jet Center to anyone. Thanks for the great service!!!

Arrived at 1:20pm on a Saturday afternoon. No one around. Self-service fuel OK, but no restrooms, no door lock coded with CTAF freq, etc. Now we know what those bushes are for. Some "Jet Center."

Two brothers started this FBO about a month ago at this well maintained airport. I met both of the Addkison brothers and they were as friendly and helpful as anyone I've met at any airport in the country. Their building is clean and well-maintained and they have computer access and clean restrooms. Their fuel prices are almost half of what you can pay at some airports in the Dallas metro area and their self-serve pumps are brand new and work perfectly. If your travels take you through this part of the country, consider stopping in and saving some significant money on fuel.

On a round trip from Las Vegas to the Dallas area, this was the lowest priced fuel on the route! FBO manager Wayne was helpful and friendly to me and to my non-flyer friends who'd given me a ride to the airport. With bottles of water, self serve fuel, and good ropes for transient tiedown, Athens Airport is everything you need.

Athens Jet Center has been open a few months now in the location formerly run by Mr. Cummings. They have a new building, but the building is not always open, as we found out on Saturday, June 13. Still, the self-serve Avgas is the lowest price in the country, and they plan to keep it that way. They have new equipment for fuel that all works as it should. The ramp has been resealed and is in very good shape. Overall, if you are anywhere in the area and need fuel, this should be the place you stop.

Great service from the owner/operator. He intends to keep the gas price low as a service to the flying community.
