Flew in there on a Monday in April to have a prop replaced on a King Air. Very friendly and nice people - Did a great job on the work. They had a rental car to save me from sitting there all day... Just a note if you plan to wait around - No Wireless, and no quiet lounge room with those soft chairs and Plasma TV... I would suggest going to the park across the street from Cracker Barrel. Hollow Park - Nice trails to walk and the mall is a great place to kill a few hours.

Flying to FDY from KY and was going to stop in to refuel. Trying to call ahead about fuel and price. Good luck on trying to get in touch with anyone on the field.

I stopped at Piqua today with my RV-8 to visit Hartzell and have my prop balanced. All I can say is WOW what a great little airport, the Hartzell guys were absolutely great they got my prop balanced and even helped put my cowling back on and push the plane over to the pumps for fuel. All of this to help me beat some storms that were moving into the area. Overall a great airport to stop and visit, or to get your prop balanced!!

Tie down rings have been repaired and additional units have been added. 24 hour Fuel system reported to be user friendly and working well. Restroom facility has been updated and in good condition. Recommended that weekend traffic needing FBO support call ahead during weekday hours to schedule. Support telephone numbers listed in line office.

Call ahead before you go to Piqua. The FBO is closed on weekends and holidays. As of Sunday 5/28/06, there were no tie-down ropes or straps in evidence. There were rings in the ramp to accommodate only two other small aircraft (if they had their own ropes) but those rings were almost unusable, being either broken or buried in years worth of hard-packed dirt. Regarding car rental, the two Piqua agencies I called were also closed on weekends. Piqua/Hartzell has self serve fuel, although the pump on/off switch was confusing at first, being not well labeled as to the "On" position. After having to start over several times I noted that some previous user had scratched "On" near the up position. A better label would have helped. If all you need is fuel or if you have business with Hartzell Propeller and you call first, Piqua is fine. But if it is a weekend or holiday and you want to tie down or rent a car or buy a chart, nearby Sidney (I12) is a better bet.

I recently flew into Piqua to meet friends nearby. I called ahead to see if a crew car might be available. A very friendly and helpful woman named Jody answered all of my questions including hours of operation at Hartzell. On my arrival, I found the field in good repair and clean. I went into Hartzell, where a gentleman whose name I did not get presented me with the keys to a well-worn but clean, neat and serviceable Ford. He asked me where I was headed and proceeded to give me excellent directions to get there. He couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. I enjoy flying into small airports like this one where it's uncrowded and people you meet are friendly. I would fly there again anytime. Thanks!!
