About Cutter Aviation Founded in 1928, Cutter Aviation is one of the country's oldest general aviation service companies. It has operations at six major airports in Arizona (Deer Valley and Phoenix), New Mexico (Albuquerque) and Texas (Dallas, El Paso and San Antonio). In addition to providing services to transient aircraft, Cutter sells, services and maintains business and privately owned aircraft. The company also provides charter and aircraft management services and operates a full-service travel agency. The Phoenix, Deer Valley, Albuquerque, and Dallas facilities are full-service, fixed-base operations, with El Paso providing line services for transient aircraft. San Antonio provides aircraft and parts sales as well as maintenance.
Looking Back Continuously family-owned for seven decades, the company originated as Cutter Flying Service Inc., in Albuquerque. William P. Cutter envisioned a business that would serve the fledgling aviation community - and the resulting enterprise exceeded his expectations. The company survived the Great Depression, and, at the outbreak of World War II, became major pilot training facility for the military. In 1947, the company began its long-standing affiliation with Beech Aircraft Corporation. From the time the first Beechcraft airplane was delivered, the Cutter name became-and continues to be-synonymous with Beechcraft, a Raytheon company. In fact today, Cutter's Dallas facility is the newest authorized Raytheon service center in the Western United States.
Looking Ahead Over the years, Cutter has maintained a position of leadership in the general aviation community by consistently expanding its services and its locations. Cutter Aviation, Inc., opened its Phoenix operation in 1959. The El Paso facility opened in 1982, Deer Valley followed in 1997, San Antonio in 1998, and Dallas in 2002. Today, a significant ramp expansion project is under way in Phoenix, where two large corporate hangars are being added. Additionally, a new facility is being constructed in El Paso and is due to be completed before year-end. What's more, Cutter closed out 2004 on a high note, booking its best year ever.
Family Values Company President Will Cutter says Cutter's success is due, in large part, to its ongoing emphasis on the core values of Respect, Trust and Integrity. "These are key ingredients to a formula that has kept us at the forefront of the industry," Cutter notes. "They have helped us establish a reputation that we are all proud of. These values have served us well for 78 years, and without them, Cutter would be just another run-of-the-mill service station for airplanes."

We stayed with Cutter for 2 nights in our little 172. They treated us great! Sure the gas is expensive but it is a major airport. They got us a rental car and gave us a lot of local info. Thanks Dolores!!!!

Cutters ramp fee is due is you shut down on their ramp. Fee is $20, waived with minimum 10-gallon fuel purchase per side. Twenty gallons at $6.20 gets the ramp fee waived for $124 dollars.

The fuel here is incredibly expensive, and customer service when I arrived was less than friendly. I guess it's hit-or-miss with them, because the girl behind the counter when I left, and the maintenance guys I talked to, were all very professional.

I stopped at the other FBO on the field, borrowed their crew car, and they topped the tanks while I ate some lunch in town. When it was time to depart, the one working radio was not transmitting. The FBO that I was sitting at didn't have avionics folks available and suggested I go over to Cutter Aviation. I did just that and after some brief discussion, an avionics tech named Pat grabbed his tool bag and headed to the plane for a "quick look". About 20 minutes later, both radios were working better than I've heard them work before. I offered to settle up, but Pat said no. Pat waited on the ramp until I gave him the thumbs up. Although I had no problems with the folks at the other FBO aside from hearing a less-than-appropriate personal phone conversation from the lady at the front desk, Cutter Aviation's professionalism and willingness to assist me have earned my trust. Thanks to the folks at Cutter Aviation and thanks to Pat for taking a personal interest in my situation.

I chose Cutter twice recently. Most all went nicely with Cutter however departure was different. The location Cutter chose to park my airplane was around a long row of T hangars, out of sight, and back by the southwest fence. Knowing there is limited parking space at Cutter, I do not understand why I was towed two to three city blocks away. I asked to speak with someone to address my concerns and was approached by Adam Herrera. After explaining this to Mr. Herrera I was told "there was a Gulfstream parked by the side of your airplane all night." Well, good enough however this does not alleviate my concerns for being parked so far away as well as I did not park this Gulfstream or my King Air on this spot. Mr. Herrera issued an apology and, at this point, I am not clear if he ever understood my concern. I was told when I park at Cutter in the future "it would never happen again." I'm not sold on whether he understands security is foremost in these times.

I have stopped at Cutter a few times and have always received excellent service. The fuel is a little high but the service more than makes up the difference. They were willing to drop off at a restaurant then take us to the hotel they had made a reservation at for us (with a good discount) and pick us up the next morning all at no extra charge. I will be using Cutter on the next trip.

Had to stay overnight in ABQ due to weather. Everyone at Cutter was extremely helpful. Line guys were happy to give me a ride to a hotel and pick up in the morning. Tie down fee was waived, even though I didn't take that much fuel. It was nice to be treated like an important customer even in a single engine prop. Thanks for the rides, guys! I will definitely come back to Cutter if in ABQ again.

We recently flew cross-country from MD to NV and back, stopping in ABQ both times. The line service folks were great and really did give us the "red" carpet treatment. The front office ladies, however, need customer service training. The first flight through we chalked up the front office experience to the lady having a bad day. However, when we came back through a week later we got the same lack of responsiveness from a different lady: as if we weren't good enough. This second lady acted as if we were bothering her when we requested that our Piper Archer be hangared due to looming CB (at an outrageous fee). Then we were made to wait almost an hour for Cutter Aviation staff to take us to the ABQ Rental Car Center all the while the same lady stating that our transport would be "in a minute".

We planned to fly into ABQ to pick up our new puppy from a local breeder. I called Cutter to arrange for a car and hangar space for our Skywagon since it had just snowed. The person I spoke with sounded like he didn't know what he was doing. It bothered me so much I called the morning of our flight to confirm details. When we arrived, they didn't know whom we were, no rental car was brought out and the line guys didn't know if they had the hangar space. The girl at the desk couldn't find the car reservation and said, "Oh, well, you'll just have to take the shuttle to Hertz on the other side of the airport." Back at the plane, Jim told me the line guys said to go to "Hangar B", and left. Hangar B was not visible. The girl behind the counter didn't know where it was either. Fuming, we sat in the plane for a few minutes, took out the Flight Guide and looked up the other FBO on the field. I called and they said they'd be happy to put us in their hangar and "would a Ford Taurus be okay?"

I flew into ABQ from Santa Fe to drop off a passenger for a commercial flight. Although we didn't need fuel, the guys at Cutter were extremely nice and offered a ride to the terminal. They treated our 172 like it was a jet - nice guys.

Great stop. I have been flying in for the past 6 months and the service has always been great. Today I showed up and even though they were busy, they had my plane pulled up in no time at all. Good job Cutter!!!

Yes, Cutter's fuel prices are rather expensive, but the service is excellent and available 24/7. The first night ramp charges are waived with fuel purchase and $7/night thereafter. They plugged in our heater overnight before departure for no extra charge (thanks!). Special kudos to Jim at the Enterprise desk for making a weekly reservation for far less than available from the Enterprise General Aviation web site.

I use Cutter every summer when I fly out from California in my Mooney. I like the fact that they are 24x7. I also enjoy the fact that they always seem to have cartoons playing in the lounge for the kids while I prep the plane. They've had some problems with rental car agencies but they seem to go out of their way to make up for it by offering rides to the terminal. Of course ABQ have the most expensive rental cars in the nation.

What a great operation. They treated this CE 172 like a GV. Fuel's a little steep, but the price was worth the customer support in hotel reservations, shuttle to/from the airport, baggage handling, and overall attitude. I'll be back again.

We spent about five hours on the ground here yesterday due to weather. Service is top-notch, but just as it has been mentioned before, it comes at a steep price. The courtesy car was out for maintenance, so our only option for transportation was to rent (the rental office is in the FBO, and they gave us an excellent rate). The FBO is operated 24/7, however, their pilot shop is not, so we had to go across the parking lot to the other guys for some charts before we headed out. In my opinion, if you're willing to spare the bucks, Cutter is a good stop for convenience to the city and superb service. Otherwise, I'd probably suggest Double Eagle for a fuel/pit stop instead.

You won't go to Cutter for cheap gas, but you will for EXCELLENT SERVICE! They parked our piston single right up front and literally rolled out the red carpet. We were fueled immediately. When we had an engine-starting problem, their mechanic came right out and fixed it on the spot. Thanks Cutter!

I have hangared my plane with Cutter for 3 or 4 years now and owe it to them to add my remarks here. They treat my Skylane like their own and are professional in every way. Their service has always been outstanding and their facility the same. I highly recommend Cutter.

Piston pilots beware! Your business is not appreciated here. We were informed their "Pilot Lounge" is actually the "Corporate Lounge" and since I was "off the street" I was not welcome. Guess I will take my $3000 a week someplace else, that includes our metros.

High fuel prices, but excellent service make it worth it for an overnight stay. After my experience at KAEG/Bode on my way to Oklahoma, I decided to try KABQ on the return trip. Much better. Ground control was very helpful on taxi guidance around a large unfamiliar airport. My C172 was guided to a spot right near the door and promptly fueled. They got me a good deal at a close, nice hotel with a restaurant (Wyndham) and drove me there in their van. I called the next morning for a pickup and the van was there within 10 minutes. The driver radioed ahead and my plane was pulled right up front as I arrived. When I asked where I could get a bottle of water, they handed me one. For all this service, I only paid for my paltry 26 gallons of 100LL at $4.85. Money well spent.

Their Avgas was almost $5 a gallon, but since I only needed about 15 gallons of it, I feel I definitely got the better end of the deal with their excellent service. I landed there in a single engine Diamond Star, yet was parked within 30 feet of their front entrance, then they booked me a great deal on a hotel room, immediately drove me there, and the next day appeared at the hotel within 5 minutes when called for a (free) ride back. They held on to my plane for two nights, and I don't think I paid for anything other than the gas and maybe a $5 tie-down fee for the 2nd night. Then I spent about $3,000 in their pilot shop on new toys including GPSMAP 396... excellent service never stopped. Thanks.

I recently spent four days in Albuquerque doing helicopter demos. The staff at Cutter (especially Jeff) is awesome. Cutter Aviation wins and you lose! The highest 100LL prices to date. I guess I should not have been surprised given the monopoly they enjoy here! And don't be fooled by the counter signs advertising a discount if you use a Phillips 66 Aviation credit card....that promise isn't honored for 100LL! But at least we were able to escape the odor of over priced aviation fuel when we were given the opportunity to utilize one of their crew vans....here the stench was everything but aviation fuel! But there is a silver lining - Flagstaff, Arizona!
