Arrived at noon on Sunday. The self serve pumps are conveniently located and worked well. Received a warm welcome from the staff at Astoria Flight Service who loaned us their car for the trip into town for lunch. The town is quite interesting with lots of museums, tourist shops, restaurants and a Sunday market. Well worth a visit, and a big thank you to the FBO for all their help.

We had been wanting to go to Astoria, and made it one afternoon when the fog broke. Without reservations, there were no cars, but very helpful Rich found us one for $45/dy. Free tiedown w/fuel purchase. Cancellations at Fort Stevens campground allowed us to camp 2 nights @$27/N. Great hiking trails, beach, & museum @FS, although crowded. Astoria fun to explore & good food. Astoria Column a must see when clear. Nice hike at Ecola park 10mi south on coast. Lots to see & do. Must have car.

There is no restaurant on the airport. FBO personnel never asked if we needed fuel (BP fuel). They had no cars to rent at FBO (a Hertz affiliate), Enterprise not open on Sundays. The FBO person behind the counter never raised her look from the computer. Not a friendly experience. $20 cab ride to a wonderful town, and a GREAT lunch at Baked Alaska restaurant on the water. Love the town, but the FBO...?

Not a stop for those looking for high touch service but runway and ramp facilities were very adequate. ILS a big plus. Static reel at fuel island was severely tangled but we were able to fix in 30 minutes of effort. Hopefully a one-time issue as could be frustrating for those in a hurry. PC-12 service on field appears to be a positive for overall activity and supervision.

Stopped in to visit friends on the coast and they had a rental car available at a great rate (also a Hertz rental place). SeaPort airlines running PC-12 charter service to PDX for $55 advanced purchase one way. Good stop on the coast with long runways and IFR approaches

After hours the place is a ghost town. We used a taxi to get to town (old grey cab). Much to far to walk.

The Port of Astoria facility has been remodeled to accommodate a small commuter airline that provides flights to/from Portland. Sadly, the restaurant has closed and there are no longer any pilot planning tools (no PC, no internet, no phone) in the revamped spaces. We were told that a planning area will eventually be recreated, but for the time being there's nothing there in the way of support. There appears to be another small FBO on the field (Twiss Air Services) but we're unfamiliar with what they offer.
