EXCELLENT! Flew in May 21, 2009. Called traffic and got a reply from Unicom with winds. Landed and got parking instructions from Unicom. Borrowed a crew car for a few hours. Self-server 100LL was $3.70; filled up. Go to their web site for noise abatement instructions, and then visit one of the best airports in the country!

I'm sure Nick enjoyed Cable Airport, even though he felt the CFI was wrong. I'll bet he feels an eastern transition request from POC while departing 24, heading South West at 2500' or less is wrong as well. Safety counts, always has. Well, my reason to comment is; Cable Airport is the best family owned airport I know of. Heck, it's the best GA airport I know of. I've been flying almost 30 years and I'm proud to be a Cableite. I know many others that feel the same. Fly over and enjoy an outside lunch, sitting on the runway side of Maniac Mikes, check out the new Gobosh LSP's that cruise as fast as a 172 and burn less then a 150. All new flight school with fair rental rates, a friendly, informative sales lot, great mechanical and avionics shop, and knowledgeable long-time Cable employees. Talk with some of the oldest pilots still flying at Cable Airport. Enjoy a real old-fashion modern day airfield.

I went for a check out in one of their 172's a while back and was annoyed by the instructor. You would think after spending thousands of dollars on his commercial and CFI he would know the difference between Class E and Class C airspace. We all know that if you fly at 2,500 ft about 6-7nm east of ONT you're underneath the ONT Class C. Long story short, flew from CCB to RAL for touch and goes, departed northbound at 2500 ft to the practice area and the instructor made me call ONT tower to ask for a transition because we would be in their airspace...according to him. I wasn't impressed with his lack of knowledge. I always fly under the Class C. As long as you have a functional mode C transponder you can fly under, in and over Class C. Don't take lessons there!

Stopped in and had a bite to eat. Foothill Aviation has the coolest Light sport for sale. The Gobosh700. Tony, the owner, offered a test flight. Awesome!!! Some guy named Joerg, with a strong German accent went along. This guy is hillarious!!! Not a bad pilot either. Check this plane out. It is the wave of the future for GA, today.

We encountered a starting problem on a fuel stop and Mike from Foothill was terrific in trying to get us going. When it was clear we needed a new mag it was replaced quickly and we were able to return as planned a few days later.
