Fly in to CDW on July 29 at 11:00am. NY ATC vectors us directly to the airport with no delays. Mac Dan line people where waiting. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. Fuel at $5.67 seemed a bargain after paying $8.25 at Teterboro the week before! No other fees. Facility is clean and comfortable. Could do with a water fountain or bottled water!

I flew in for a meeting and expected to get hammered by the prices. Line folks were very friendly! I only could take 12.5 gallons on top off for my single engine but they said that was still good enough to waive fees. They said the Airport authority likely would be sending me a bill for $10. Overall, for the location, service, relative price of fuel I thought it was fair. I'll fly back in there again.

I've been in and out of Mac Dan for the past couple of months. Nydia runs the ops desk and is very, very good and professional. I'm in an MU-2 and they know exactly how the fueling process works. It's a little expensive but not nearly as bad as Teterboro. Try to depart VFR and pick up your IFR airborne, otherwise expect 20-minute delays at the departure end of the runway.

Landed and went to MacDan to meet a friend. They wanted to charge me $40 for parking for 30 minutes, but waived it with fuel purchase. They neglected to tell me that the airport would be sending me a bill for a $10 landing fee. Its places like this that continually make it difficult for GA! Go to Paragon Aviation instead - the airport told me that they pay their customer's landing fees for them.

$60 ramp fee for a C421 or 75 gallons of expensive fuel to have that dropped. After that, the airport sends a bill! Not a welcome mat to do business here. I'll go elsewhere.

Overnighted Oct. 20-21. No avgas! Something about the manager being in Switzerland and the check not being written to their supplier. They had to call Caldwell Services (next door) to get a fuel truck sent. Lack of communication between "Joe", the desk guy Saturday, and anyone else since the desk girl Sunday had no idea who I was, where my plane was (literally, right outside the door), or that I needed fuel. She couldn't find the registration sheet I filled out. Stan, their line guy, took care of it but it delayed me 45 minutes. Also, my plane was not tied down. All in all, not a very impressive operation.

Stopped at Mac Dan Aviation for a transponder cert from Avionics One. I topped off with 100LL prior to departure. Nydia Lopez at the service counter and the line staff were a pleasure to deal with. A great experience overall. I did receive a bill in the mail from the Essex County Improvement Authority for a $10 landing fee 3 weeks later, but that’s the county government, not any FBOs doing. I'll still be back for all of my avionics work in spite of the fee.

Mac Dan personnel were very helpful to a transient visiting Manhattan. They arranged for a limo in and gave instructions for a more economical bus return. When I mentioned that the nose wheel steering on my rare bird was tender, they left it parked in front of the terminal for 4 days. A very good operator.

This is not about Mac Dan, but about the Essex County Improvement Authority. I just got a bill in the mail for $10.00, apparently for a landing fee, yet I have never been to Essex County Airport, and the tail number is for a Hot Air Balloon that hasn't flown in years. Apparently they copied the tail number incorrectly and looked it up in the registration database and got my name and address. I don't think I'll be landing here!

Mac Dan damaged my aircraft by towing Cirrus into my radome in Jan. FBO Mgr. Markus B. Confirms their fault and repeatedly has promised payment "next week". With similar reports of Mac Dan's questionable ethics after damaging aircraft, you may want to reconsider your FBO choice.

People were very nice. I flew in without any advanced notice and stayed for five days. Overnight parking was $17.00 per night for single engine. Fuel was very reasonably priced. I would definitely return and use Mac Dan again.

Stopped here on business on 2/7/07 and it was COLD outside! They put our aircraft (King Air C90A) in a heated hangar for the day for $100. Nydia Lopez, the young lady handling the line service counter, was super to deal with. I will be back here again. MUCH less hectic than TEB.

I phoned today to check prices for a piston single: $25.00 ramp fee (waived with 20 gal or a top-up [if less than 20]), $17/night parking (*not* waived with fuel), and $10 landing fee collected by the airport. By comparison, last March Atlantic at Teterboro had no parking or ramp fees for my plane, but sky-high fuel prices, so it all depends on how much gas you think you'll need and how long you'll be staying.

Mac Dan Aviation has the skill and customer service that ranks up with the very best FBOs in the country. With the money saved over TEB landing fees, I will always go to Mac Dan now and have enough left over to rent a limo to take my passengers to NYC. Best of all, I know that when it's time to leave, I can takeoff at will. Far better then TEB. Mac Dan handles our Beech Jet with the care that only we have for it. They are very safety minded. A first class operation.

Received excellent service from Mac Dan on a recent overnight to CDW. The line service and front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. The parking fee and fuel prices are reasonable considering the location in the NYC metro area.

I recently received prompt and courteous action from ExxonMobil AVITAT local representatives when I made them aware of Mac Dan’s General Manager, Markus Buttikofer, and his poor ethics in dealing with my aircraft that Mac Dan had damaged. They reported to me that Markus had asked that I call him to work it out. I have called, but Markus continues to demonstrate avoidance and misrepresentation, despite having well-intentioned employees working at a convenient airport.

As a student pilot flying out of CDW I have been constantly impressed with MacDan's FBO. The same excellent service and great attitude that customers flying in and chartering receive is extended to the local aviation community as well.

In reference to Jim Miller's comment on Sept. 7, 2005: Landing fee at Caldwell?? You bet!! We visited Mac Dan for several hours on April 2, 2006 - and today (eight days later) got a bill from the Essex County "Improvement" Authority for $15.00. This is their landing fee. You can decide whether it's worth it to land to land at Caldwell.

The customer service people at MacDan are FIRST RATE! This has been one of my most satisfying FBO relationships for years. Operations are conducted on a par with the best FBOs in America. On the other hand, the General Manager does not deserve these fine people and their superb services. His judgment, principles, and ethics put MacDan at risk. Because of his practices, MacDan is also an unsuitable place to for an aircraft owner or operator to risk any aircraft's safety, integrity, and economy.

DON'T HESITATE!!...I've been in to Mac Dan twice a month for the past 6 months and received nothing but the best service. Their relationship with Enterprise makes rental a snap and the people at Mac Dan are the best!! I wish all FBO's were this service oriented!

I wanted to comment on the great job the people at Mac Dan did on my visit to CDW. I had called ahead and arranged a car to take us into the City. About a 35 minute drive. We found the car waiting with minimal transition time. While flying in from the West Coast, ATC advised that I had a problem with my Mode C. The service person at Mac Dan removed my altimeter and one of the line people drove it to TEB for repair. They had space available in their heated hanger for my Conquest II. On my departure day, it was raining and very windy. The FBO called me and said that I could load my baggage and preflight the plane in the hanger as to minimize the time outside prior to departure. Super service, close to the city and easy ATC sequencing in and out of the airport. I would not hesitate to recommend this airport and facility to anyone coming into the New York City area.

I had a very good experience here. Fuel prices are now the same as at CAS - and the service and facilities are far superior. Nightly parking for a C172 is $15 compared to $10 at CAS. Very friendly, very nice FBO.

STAY AWAY!!! I have used MacDan consistently for three years, and found their service and staff to be above par. Then, in mid-2004 they damaged my 6-month old Columbia 400 aircraft on the ramp. They provided the labor to fix the damage they caused, but now it is now several months later, and Marcus, the General Manager, has proven to be less than forthright and responsive in reimbursing my out of pocket expenses of approx. $6,000 for parts, inspection of their work, and re-work of the repairs they didn't perform "by the book". Plus, their Chief A&P has not yet provided the logbook entries for the work MacDan performed. MacDan has acquired a bad odor as far as I'm concerned, unless they begin acting more honorably. At such time I will post an update. STAY AWAY!!!!!
