My first visit this weekend was a pleasant experience. The friendly staff took my fuel order and provided ramp access for my father's car to unload my plane. I will be visiting the area frequently and Crystal River seems to be a good choice.

Thanks to the maintenance personnel for helping me with my starter problem. I arrived there yesterday afternoon (5/11) and starter failed when I was ready to leave. They ordered new starter yesterday afternoon and when I arrived at the airport this morning at 10am the starter had been replaced and the airplane was ready to go. That's great service. They were also very professional and nice to work with. The bill was reasonable and I felt I was treated fairly. Thanks again.

I did not encounter any of the problems expressed by others in previous posts. True, I have been to other FBO's that hustled more, but then there are those FBO's that hustled less. I see no reason, based on my experience, to avoid this airport.

I have flown a Chieftain to both X35 and CGC. When I arrive I take 120 gallons of fuel. The difference is generally $1.00/gallon and CGC charges a tiedown per night. CGC pumps the gas for you, you pump your own at X35. I would definitly pay more at CGC, because it is slightly more convenient. Tom Davis was very quick to respond to my email, but my request for a quantity discount was denied and I was told that there were no breaks on the tie down. $8/night up to a max of $60/month. No real bother to me...Just seems like a nice airport that may want to examine their business policies. Also...There are some great eating places in Crystal River. Nothing against DQ, but you can do better!!

Last time I stoped at Crystal River I promised myself I never would again. Well weather made me turn back and fuel up there again. Note to airport manager. Your office should not take up half the FBO. It looks like he took what was a pilot lounge and made it his own. There is no way to check weather. They have no internet but have a DTN station but it's at a desk you can't use it at too low with no way to pull a chait up to it if there was a chair in the place. When you go in they treat you like you're bothering them. Note to self: don't bother them again.

We landed at this airport after hours. After hours operations at CGC are a problem. You can get out of a coded gate, but you will not be able to get back in. There are no instructions of how to obtain the code after hours and no phone number to call posted on the gate. The only thing posted is a threat stating "Airport Under Surveillance, " "Terrorist Risk High". Please!! As far as service, I found it to be very lacking. The front desk worker was condescending at times and not very eager to be of help. He was eager to get the $8 overnight fee. I did not purchase any fuel because it is far higher than surrounding airports. X35 15NM to the North was $2.80. Parking was also a problem. I parked in the FBO area and a gentleman (Non-FBO worker) that happen to be there told me to go all the way down to the end. That is about a half of a mile walk that is not very pleasant with dive gear. In the future, I will only stop here if it is our destination.

I have to agree with the last comment posted here. My friend and I landed in CGC on Feb. 21, and had the exact same parking problem, we asked the unicom where we should park, and been told we can park wherever we'd like, when we chose an empty parking spot next to the FBO, they said its reserved, and than when we taxied to the next one they were impatient and said we should just go park farther down (all of that, of course, with a running, costly, engine). When we got into the place and asked for a nice place to have lunch they pointed us to cross an active grass runway towards a next door dairy queen, which is not exactly ours, nor I would guess anybody's first choice for lunch... There was no Internet connection and hardly anyway to check the weather for our next leg of flight, not to mention coffee, the pilot shop mentioned earlier was very very poor and overpriced, the service was in one word- BAD. Will not recommend stopping there unless under different management.
