Stopped to walk to terminal to pick up a kitten from a flight attendant for PilotsNPaws animal rescue. Took a very short time, they waived any fees for the humanitarian cause. Very nice.

A late evening arrival on 10/21 with a PC-12 was greeted by attentive and courteous line staff who drove us to our overnight hotel; located on the airport. Next morning had the airplane ready and refueled when they picked us up at the Hilton Garden Inn (great hotel and "crew rate"). Papers and ice ready as soon as we arrived, paid for the services and on our way with no wasted time. We appreciated their service so much we returned a day later (10/23) for passenger pickup and they had a "quick turn" for the airplane with only 29 minutes from chock in to chock out. Great service and great staff. Way to go!! We'll be back.

We flew in there over Columbus Day weekend. People at Lane were very friendly and helpful. They drove us to the rental car counter in the parking garage and told us when we returned we could just drop the car off with them, and they would call Hertz to come and get it. Well, it looks like they forgot to call Hertz for 3 days, because we dropped the car off on October 12, but Hertz didn't receive it back until October 15! Lucky for me that Hertz took my word on the return and credited my bill, but Lane's carelessness almost cost me $250 in car rental fees.

Arrived in my Cherokee 140B. Was treated like royalty. As a stranger, I found that NATCA has a Port Columbus website which has a couple of informative photos on their website which really helped orient me in addition to the airport diagram I got from AirNav.Com Free ride to and from the 94th Aero Squadron for dinner. Fuel prices as posted. No surprise charges. Exceptionally friendly people

Low landing fee of $4 for my 182RG. Friendly staff. Avgas is on the high side in contrast to other places at this time. Didn't get fuel, but they didn't charge me a ramp fee after I bought a Cinci sectional.

Upon landing, I was greeted at the door by a lineman. He asked what our needs were, and I stated we wanted a top off of fuel, and that we would be in town for a couple days for a meeting. He asked about ground transportation, I replied that our hotel had a shuttle. His response was, nonsense, I'll take you to your hotel - and just call and we'll pick you up when you are ready to come back to the airport! One of the best experiences I've seen from an FBO! Oh, and by the way, we were in a 172 - not a jet (although there were plenty of them around too!)

Came for business meeting downtown. Called 20 minutes out and requested taxi. When I got there, a private car service was there and took me downtown, for $40 fee. Taxicab back was $20. Next time I'll specify taxicab, although that's what I asked for today. Very low landing fee of $4 without fuel purchase.

Another excellent experience with Lane Aviation at Port Columbus. As always, the total service was prompt, courteous, and helpful. The 100LL was a penny less than advertised and turned out to be $4.88/gal including the $0.30/gal State tax. No extra fees of any kind were charged. Checking AirNav is part of the pre-flight briefing for airports I do not use frequently.

As usual, great service with Lane Aviation but beware of Enterprise when renting through Lane. Despite declining all the extra insurance options by appropriately initialing the contract with the assistance of the Lane front desk personnel, Enterprise will add on CDW coverage after the fact. When you call them, they say that the front desk folks should have been aware that there is a contractual agreement between Lane and Enterprise to force customers to take CDW. Enterprise claims that sometimes the front desk personnel at Lane miss this. I rent over 20 times a year with Enterprise at different FBOs and this is the first time that I have heard of this. You have to push on Enterprise real hard to get them to reverse out the charge. Lane either needs to straighten out Enterprise who is sticking it to customers since they bill "after the fact" or they need to clearly let clients know up front and not let them decline CDW by initialing the option.

I've used both Lane and Million Air at CMH - both are nice FBO's with coffee and fresh cookies :) Lane has been excellent in providing crew cars when needed. They definitely have the largest FBO operation on the field and a nice, well stocked pilot shop. Lane always waived my fees with fuel purchase - not sure what Million Air's procedure is (my trips to Million Air were handled by the company I worked for) Lane gave me a free preheat once when they forgot to plug in my airplane (everyone makes mistakes - but they made it right!)

I stopped at Lane Aviation to visit their extensive parts department about a week ago and I couldn't tell you how great of an experience I had. We planned on being in and out of there in less then ten minutes. Unfortunately the radio in my C-172 would not operate correctly and we were stuck there for about another two hours. The Folks at Lane Aviation were fantastic to us. They did their best to get us out of there as soon as possible. The Girls at the front counter were very helpful by supplying my partner and I with the proper phone numbers required to fix our problem. Dick Depalma, a customer relations representative found us a hand held radio for us to use with the tower. Brad Willette had the radio in his office and he was more then happy to let us use it for the day. Again I thank all of the people at Lane for this level of service. You have found a customer for life!

Lane Aviation took great care of all my needs when based there for my job. Fuel is a little high but in line with probably most major terminal airports now. Service does not discriminate here, whether you are in a 172 or a Citation, you get the same attention. I was always marshaled in and out every time and asked 10 times if I needed anything else. I will certainly go back. Columbus tower control was always friendly to slower craft like mine.

Lane Aviation has beautiful facilities and makes any trip into Port Columbus easy. Line guys are very attentive as the counter staff. There are lots of jets coming and going but they treated my C172 with the same level of service and were always there to chock, marshal in and out. I will definitely go back!

I landed at CMH and nervously taxied to Lane Aviation. Before I was out of the plane a van pulled up and asked if I needed any help. I said, "I need to get to the terminal to pick up a 91 year old man who is flying in from DFW." His response, "Hop in." When we got to the terminal he said, "Call this number and we'll come pick you up." And they did, and took us right back to my plane. Thank you very much, Lane Aviation, for great, old-fashioned service.

The line crew is always helpful and courteous. The same can't be said for some of the ladies who issue courtesy vehicles. Shouldn't you be courteous when you issue someone a courtesy vehicle? Instead I get 20 questions, are you 25? Will you be back in an hour? Really, let's keep it professional.

My last post was in 2004. I am pleased to report that Lane is still the best FBO in Ohio! It has an incredibly friendly staff, reasonably priced fuel, killer cookies, super courtesy vehicles and a nice pilot lounge. FBO's don't get any better.

GOOD: I called ahead and they had an Enterprise rental car waiting for me. NOT GOOD: the sub-compact cost $61 for 1 day - almost double the going rate offered by other rental companies at CMH. GOOD: on arrival, a line person who guided me to parking, helped hand carry my baggage to the terminal and then refused my offer of a tip met me. NOT GOOD: I requested that if my plane needed to be moved, please take extra care due to my brand new paint job. Upon return I found a fresh nick right in the top of my nose wheel fairing. GOOD: I was asked for an anticipated departure time the next day so they could "have my plane brought up if it had to be moved". NOT GOOD: Arriving next day as scheduled I found my plane tied down at the far opposite side of the ramp. No bad weather, no crowded ramp, and no sort of offer to help me with my baggage on the long walk out to the plane. Lane is usually an outstanding FBO, though I had my share of disappointments this trip.

Most customer friendly FBO that I have been to in months. Everyone could not have been more eager to please. Whether flying commercially for charter or Medflight or my personal plane I will always stop at Lane Aviation in the Midwest for service beyond comparison.
