About Cutter Aviation Founded in 1928, Cutter Aviation is America's oldest continually family-owned FBO and aviation service company. In operation for over 80 years, Cutter Aviation operates at eight major airports in the Southwestern United States. Cutter locations in Arizona (Deer Valley and Phoenix Sky Harbor), New Mexico (Albuquerque) and Texas (Dallas Executive, McKinney, El Paso and San Antonio) and Colorado (Colorado Springs) provide a wide range of services to transient and based aircraft including fuel and FBO service, maintenance, avionics, new and pre-owned aircraft sales and charter and aircraft management.
The Phoenix, Deer Valley, Albuquerque, and Dallas Executive facilities are full-service, fixed-base operations, with El Paso, McKinney and Colorado Springs providing line services for transient aircraft. San Antonio provides new and pre-owned aircraft sales as well as maintenance.
Looking Back Continuously family-owned for eight decades, the company originated as Cutter Flying Service Inc., in Albuquerque. William P. Cutter envisioned a business that would serve the fledgling aviation community - and the resulting enterprise exceeded his expectations. The company survived the Great Depression, and, at the outbreak of World War II, became major pilot training facility for the military. In 1947, the company began its long-standing affiliation with Beech Aircraft Corporation. Since that time, the Cutter name became, and continues to be, synonymous with major and emerging aircraft brands ranging from piston singles to light and medium turbine aircraft.
Looking Ahead Over the years, Cutter has maintained a position of leadership in the general aviation community by consistently expanding its services and its locations. Cutter Aviation, Inc., opened its Phoenix operation in 1959. The El Paso facility opened in 1982, Deer Valley followed in 1997, San Antonio in 1998, Dallas in 2002, and McKinney and Colorado Springs in 2006. Cutter remains strong due to an unwavering commitment to customer service, customer and employee satisfaction, and business practices rooted in our core values of respect, trust and integrity.
Company President Will Cutter reinforces this: "These are key ingredients to a formula that has kept us at the forefront of the industry. They have helped us establish a reputation that we are all proud of. Our values have served us well for eighty years, and without them, Cutter would be just another run-of-the-mill service station for airplanes."

Great hospitality. Made a quick trip easy. Even though the courtesy car was gone, one especially nice employee let us borrow her personal car for about a half hour. Thanks!

Visited Colorado Springs Oct 17 for the Air Force-Wyoming game. Cutter was enjoyable experience and the staff very helpful and friendly. Had rental car waiting steps from the aircraft. If you call them they will make rental car and hotel reservations for you. Nice pilot lounge. Self-serve fuel down so they fueled me up at that price ($4.256).

Stayed at KCOS for several days and used Cutter Aviation: Very friendly line people (Paul!) and office person (Jennifer!). When I arrived, they had my National rental car on the ramp next to my airplane, and they hangared my plane for the price of a tie-down since they were out of tie-downs. They also fueled my plane and charged me the self-serve rate (very reasonable gas prices!) Upon my return I discovered that they do NOT have pre-heat equipment. Morale: Have them put your plane in a HEATED hangar the night before you plan to depart if the weather will be less than 40 deg F.

Stopped at Cutter KCOS on Aug 12/13. Spoke with Rita about 2 weeks prior and she was incredibly helpful, making our hotel reservation and car rental. When we arrived early on the 12th to drive to a river rafting destination, Enterprise had not left the car, so LaWanda let us take their crew van at no charge so we wouldn't be late, and had Enterprise replace that. They even hangared my plane and charged my battery for no charge. Rita, LaWanda, Mike, Orlando and the rest of the crew took great care of us, and after 2 weeks of traveling and parking at 8 FBO's, this was the best service we had throughout the country.

10 Aug 2009...Self serve fuel was down, they fueled me at the SS price though that price was only topped by my home airport (KOAK @4.85 gal) for what I averaged on a west to east coast round trip flight stopping at over 11 locations. Nice folks, prompt service. Had rental car waiting for me. If my sons get in to the Air Force academy I will be back.

July 16, 2009 - We flew down from Denver for a meeting before heading back to MI. Though we only fly a Cherokee 235 we were greeted by two people who were very helpful in getting us unloaded, into the terminal, and into our rental car. Their service was very prompt, professional, and helpful. We could not have asked for better and more reasonably priced service.

When you sign your fuel order, you are signing a liability release form. Read the back of the form. If you decline to sign, you have to be there for towing (not a bad idea anyway). However, after waiting 20 minutes for the tug, I just moved across the ramp. Overnight fee was less over there also.
Response from Jessica Scudder, General Manager, Cutter Aviation Mr. Patterson, Cutter Aviation requests that our customers sign a form when they arrive. This standard "hold harmless" agreement states first and foremost that the brakes are off on the aircraft and that Cutter has permission to tow it. There are other provisions listed on the back, such as that the customer maintains the appropriate insurance, agrees to pay for services provided by Cutter Aviation, releases Cutter from damages sustained in adverse weather conditions, etc. It also states in the indemnification clause that Cutter is held harmless "except to the extent such claims arise from the negligence or willful misconduct of Cutter." Should someone refuse to sign this form, we require that they are present for towing and services that are provided to protect ourselves from any unwarranted claims. We apologize for any misunderstanding or inconvenience that this policy caused.

Nice experience. Prompt line service, reasonable tie-down and hangar rates (we tied down for 7 nights at $10/night then requested hangar our 8th night at $35 to avoid cold-soaked engine start). Only glitch was the Enterprise car was not there when we arrived. We booked online then called the KCOS Enterprise number prior to arrival to verify car would be there; it wasn't! I think the problem was Enterprise and not Cutter. Next time we'll verify with Cutter directly. Kudos to Mark and the crew at Cutter KCOS.

I cannot give enough praise to the staff at Cutter, Colorado Springs. Came in to pick up PAX during inclement wx. Line crew even pushed our AC into the hangar so that my pax didn't have to get out in the rain/snow mix. Probably the best service I've received outside of my home base.... A+

We had a great stop @ Cutter Labor Day weekend. Called ahead to reserve a car and Jesse ended up doing all my reservations: car and hotel. Arrived to a red carpet, car, and smiling faces at the plane. I was assured our 210 would be put up if afternoon TS occurred. We had a good time in Colorado Springs (Pikes Peak) with out worrying about my plane. Construction/remodeling FBO so will be even better soon.

They got me to my car and on my way into town quickly and efficiently and the line guys were very courteous. They put my SR22 in a hangar for the weekend at no extra charge. As I was pre-flighting for departure, a jet was going to taxi away ahead of me and one guy, unprompted, drove his truck in front of my plane to block any jet blast from disturbing me. Very thoughtful!

We recently flew to COS and availed ourselves of the Cutter services. We did not give Cutter advance notice of our visit and made car rental reservations directly with Enterprise--no problem. We were assisted out of the plane, they contacted Enterprise who brought the vehicle over to Cutter, and were on our way. Plane was ready upon our return (they called us to confirm). Still a great place.

Unfortunately, my recent stop at Cutter wasn't as good as others. Despite my phone call to the FBO, giving them the time I would depart, and the fuel order, when I arrived, the plane was still in the hangar, and was not fueled. The attendant ("Mark") kept saying "no problem, " which I took to mean that it was no problem to him. The 30-minute delay at Cutter added two hours to the trip. We were unable to get into the Hammond, LA, airport due to fast-building weather, had to divert, etc. If we had departed on time from Cutter, we would have made our destination. Now it appears that Cutter did not turn in our rental car on the day we brought it back (at 8:00am), and we have been charged an extra day by Hertz, which we will have to track down and correct. Overall, not an impressive performance by Cutter.
Response from Jessica Scudder, General Manager, Cutter Aviation Mr. Gresham- I have left you a voice mail in an attempt to discover just what went wrong. I would like to encourage you to call me so that I can have all of the information regarding this matter and fix the problem. As for Hertz, I have contacted the local manager and the additional day has been removed from your account. The car was logged and called in for return immediately upon your departure. It was unfortunately not picked up by the Hertz staff until the next day and apparently ignored the return tag we placed upon the keys. Your credit should be placed immediately to your card. You will be receiving a call from the manager of the branch to confirm this. Please accept my apology for the inconveniences that you have encountered. We would like to have the opportunity make it up to you in the future should you allow us to do so.

Was at COS for a week. Rental car brought to airplane, ice water and snacks were available, and (best of all) the tie downs were full so they put me in a hangar for tie down price ($10/night). Very friendly service. Weather access was good. Would highly recommend. Parking is off the main taxiway but ground gave good directions.

Excellent, friendly service. We stopped at Cutter for three nights during the weekend of June 13--16. 3 day stay Oct 07. Both in and out line guys treated me (PA 28R) like a King Air on both in and out. Helped with bags, offered to valet my car to plane, towed plane to pump for fuel (no need to taxi), provided several waters for outbound. Never made me feel guilty about using self serve fuel. Office staff equally helpful. Brownies, treats for kids, pleasant conversation. Chart planning room good. Printer didn't work first try, but since I only wanted one page, I didn't try again or ask for help. I'm sure they'd have helped had I asked. Bathroom very clean and nicely appointed. Very pleased.

We RON'd while on our way to Ninety Nines Conference in Boulder, Co. While they were surprised to see three women depart the airplane, the service was wonderful. Stopped by Cutter's self-serve AVGAS pump this morning for a top-off before leaving x-country. A lineman met me at the pump before my feet hit the ramp, apologized that the pump was out of order, and volunteered to fuel from the truck at the self-serve price (at the "guaranteed" rate). We recently visited COS and Cutter. The service was great (and ATC was polite and helpful). Cutter representatives helped us load and unload tools from the plane, hangared the plane, returned our rental car and made last minute motel reservations for us when we had to stay over due to weather. We certainly received "jet set" treatment for our Bonanza stay. Thanks again.

Needed a little help from Ground Control to find the facility which is somewhat hidden from the main taxiways. Arrived in a C421 and was swamped with service. Windshield was washed and an offer to remove the bugs from the leading edge of the nicely treated boots. I let the bugs stay. When I said that I was going to use the self-fueling, the two line fellows said they would tow the plane to the location. Later decided to let them fuel it. Wireless Internet, terribly good brownies next to the coffee, help with luggage and assisting passengers out and into plane. Departure support just great after a four-hour stay.

Arrival was excellent. Gentleman working the line assisted at the self-serve and pulled our Baron to the line for tie down. Then gave me a ride to terminal when Enterprise was too busy to pick us up. Great service!!! The out bound was quite different. Line staff could care less to assist with anything. Wife and I struggled to dislodge the "chocks" by rocking the aircraft and kicking them loose. No assist with luggage or anything. They just stood beside their fueling truck and watched from about 65 feet away. Oh well, if management approves then so be it. I would hope that customer service would be a primary focus of any reputable FBO. We were the only aircraft on the ramp with activity.
Response from Jessica Scudder, General Manager, Cutter Aviation COS Mr. Finley- I wanted to take a moment to let you know that the behavior described on your departure is NOT acceptable to the management and that the line service technicians responsible for your deplorable customer service experience have been severely disciplined. Customer service is my focal point and it is absolutely inexcusable that you were treated in this manner. I would like to make this up to you if you would allow me the chance to do so upon your next visit. Please contact me at any time and we can discuss this.

Stopped at KCOS a few weeks ago as I always do on my cross-country flights, expecting outstanding service, impeccable facility and low Jet-A prices. I hadn't realized Craig sold out to Cutter. The fuel prices are no longer a bargain, though not bad compared to other airports. The FBO was not as spotless as it used to be, and the lineman wasn't as careful as he should have been and started pumping fuel before the nozzle was completely inside the fuel port, resulting in spraying Jet-A across the top of my wing. Although I am sure Cutter is a fine organization, it is sad to see the loss of an outstanding independently owned FBO.

I've been a customer for a while at Cutter at TKI and they have always been great to me. This trip to Cutter was just as pleasant. The people there were very friendly and accommodating. They don't have an avgas truck yet, but they pulled my plane up to the self-serve pump when I was ready to go even with the patches of snow on the ground. The line guy then offered me his gloves to use in the cold temperatures as I came unprepared. This was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend the good people at Cutter. If COS and TKI is an indication of how Cutter operates everywhere I will definitely use their other locations when I can in the future. Thanks!

As a long-time Cutter customer (ABQ, ELP, PHX), I was excited to see them expand to COS. The friendly, first- class staff is just what I expected and the self-serve fuel price was certainly a bonus. Unfortunately, the $10 per night tie-down rate is the highest I have EVER had to pay for my little Mooney. Doing the math after my 10-day visit, I should have stuck with Colorado Jet Center.
