Nice place to stop for SS fuel. Pump worked fine: after credit card is approved, pump hums for 1 second, goes quiet for about 10 seconds, and then comes back on. Don't panic when it goes quiet - just wait for it to come back.

I came for the fuel but found a great little airport. Since I arrived late I crashed on the couch. Then I discovered that the Manassas re-enactment weekend was on. I got a motel for a couple of nights and Larry let me have the courtesy car for a couple of days. The airport is well cared for and it was a great visit.

Nice. Unattended when we arrived. When we departed on Sunday there were out of avgas. Landed at KMHP for fuel on the way out of town.

This is not the Claxton of old, which was a good enroute stop. This is the new and much improved Claxton. New SS (cheap) fuel works just fine. Lounge, pilot’s room and bathrooms are clean and bright. Courtesy car takes you to town. KCWV is an unattended airport but everything works, just follow the instructions.

Hmm... I don't understand everyone's quandary here. I'm a student pilot and I go to Claxton about once every two weeks for fuel. I pull up, ground the plane, swipe the card, get approval, pull the hose and fill up the plane, both sides. I've never experienced a timeout on the fuel system, and I'm not particularly hurrying... That said, Claxton has the cheapest fuel for many miles around. It's actually cheaper for me to fly out there from, and return to, Savannah, purchasing fuel, than to use Savannah's self-serve, and a dollar a gallon over their full-serve. KCWV is a little Podunk Holler type airport, which are the kind I favor over any other.

Super nice little airport. Just plain and simple...the way life should be. AVGAS is SS but new card scanners and everything worked to a T. Even used the crew car to go to a local meeting. Very nice. Will be back.

Fuel system is still on the tricky side. Trick is to get every thing set up, (grounded, ladder out, hose pulled to the plane, etc) then get your credit card in and start pumping gas within 30 seconds. Don't be slow about getting to the next wing or it will time out on you there. They need to reset it, but given the good price I guess it is worth the hassle. Still a good place to stop IMHO.
