The runway lights and PAPI are working at Calhoun; I just used them last week. Have never seen them inop. Don't know why you had a problem. The field is one of the best maintained general aviation airports I've ever seen. Great fuel prices to boot!

Passing through the area on April 19th and diverted to KCZL due to deteriorated weather conditions, approached from the south and could not activate the runway lights. Over flying the field we were finally able to turn the lights on, however we had no VASI & decided to divert to KDNN instead. During our flight planning we did not discover any Notams issued for KCZL. We did attempt to contact the airport manager twice during the following day & wasn't available again (see previous post) I did notice the construction on the ramp, this may coincide with the inoperative equipment, the construction wasn't Notam'd also. Not sure about using KCZL in the future.

Great airport! Very nice people and facilities, and also got the 20 cents/gal discount unexpectedly on 120 gallons. Not sure where it kicks in but based on other comments am assuming 100 gals.

I have been to this airport several times as a passenger with a good friend of mine. The Jet A is a great bargain and the two line guys are wonderful. John and Andrew are always willing to help. I have made several attempts to locate and commend the airport manager but have not ever had the pleasure of meeting him; I thought this would do nicely. Nice courtesy car too.

Landed here on Sunday 11/2 for fuel. Can't beat the fuel price, I thought!! Imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I bought 124 gals for my Baron and got a further 20 cents a gallon discount (presumably for buying this quantity). Never thought I'd see 100LL at $3.69/gal. I'll be back.

GREAT AIRPORT!! They let us barrow the courtesy car overnight- no charge. Clean, quiet and very laid back environment.

Nice Quiet place, no charge for parking and the self-service fuel was inexpensive. Bathrooms were clean, and flight-planning resources were adequate. Only thing to keep in mind: The building is locked up when the operation is closed. I don’t know when they were scheduled to open on Sunday, but at 8:00 AM, the building was locked up. Fuel pumps were fine though.

Went up in search of a hangar and spoke with Bob. These guys are great! We shot the breeze talking about homebuilt and neat aircraft on the field. They have the best pilot's lounge I've been to at a small field. Great place to hang out and drink a Coke while judging landings.

Landed there on Friday, 9/21/07 for an overnight stay. Nice airport facility with very friendly staff. Fuel is self serve, but the airport will tow you over so you don't have to start the engines to move. Staff recommended the Jameson Inn, which was clean and comfortable. 10% airport discount is the same as corporate rate, though. Enterprise delivered the car on schedule. Pleasant small airport!
