Initial misgivings turned out to be unfounded. When I first called and talked to the lady and inquired about rental cars for arrivals (a 12-hr flight departing 6AM arriving 7PM) the lady told me the FBO closed (6PM), her first solution was "You should leave EARLIER!" That was discouraging, but a phone call to Enterprise was the solution. Enterprise left a car for us ON THE RAMP, with instructions for the security-gate and keys under the mat. Nice stay at Hampton Inn, then next day departing at 2PM we met the lady and found her very businesslike (it's a city operation obviously) BUT... Every need is met efficiently, nice pens and notepad giveaways, and clean, facility. No self-serve fuel, and full retail price, but they had us fueled up and all we had to do was load up, pay up, and go. Very convenient airport IF YOU MAKE ARRANGEMENTS IN ADVANCE when arriving after-hours. We'll be back (kids in pvt school here.)

Stopped at Danville during an IFR proficiency out-n-in from eastern VA with my two young sons. The staff was very kind to us and even gave my two younger sons each a balsa wood glider while we relaxed before our return flight home. Thank for the hospitality. Looking forward to coming back soon.

The only reason that I mark this place not great is that there is no way (unless I just missed it) to get into the FBO after hours like you are able to do at most FBO's. We stopped there at 7:30 PM to wait out a thunderstorm in Greensboro. It would have been great to go inside, but they leave at 7:00 PM with no way of going inside.

Spent the night there on a ferry trip, Mike was awesome and has great tips for hotels and a courtesy car. Ended up having to leave the plane for a while and Mike gladly helped with a hangar at a reasonable price! Can't wait to come back through
