Just an update, KEYF even better; remodeled, looks great, though I loved it before. Stopped last week, we do NJ to FL, Al., La freq., wouldn't stop anywhere else. Sun'n'Fun travelers, the Taylor’s in the past have complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers plus the trimmings and really pleasant to sit outside on the picnic benches even if you aren't hungry! Oscar and Mitch at Elizabethtown NC (EYF) are great guys. Elizabethtown has it all: reasonable fuel, great service, free courtesy car, and nice little town. On my last visit, heading South, Oscar helped fuel our Aztec. I asked him if there was a way to pump up my left main. He said he'd take care of it. When my wife and I returned from town, I handed Oscar a tip, and told him that I had a bad knee and felt that if I had gotten under the wing, to pump up the tire, he'd have to call 911 to get me out. He proceeded to tell me that he had two knee replacements and a bad back. He had filled the tire and checked all the others and all was OK. Then he wouldn't take the tip. I felt bad that I had put him up to this. But, this is just to show you what kind of people these guys are. We pay just a little more for fuel than other stops on the way South, but you cant beat this great airport and the people that man it.

Mitch and Oscar Taylor bent over backwards to accommodate us. We called on the CTAF barely before their closing time. Mitch stayed late to help us get settled, then gave us a Crown Victoria crew car, and gave good accommodation and restaurant recommendations. In the morning, Oscar fueled our plane at the "self service" fuel station, at self service fuel rates. The airport is spotless and well-appointed, with a mini-museum of artifacts dug up when building the airfield. They were extremely helpful and friendly. I highly recommend them for a stop.

I really don't know how to describe how nice Oscar and his FBO is. They are as nice and friendly and helpful as any human can be. They just put in new furniture and computers to improve their customer service. This is a Father and son team that has invested their own money in inventory of gas, oil, dispensing equipment and a crew car supporting General Aviation and we should reward them for that. Yes there may be good city owned fuel stops with no one around that might be 10 cents a gallon cheaper but I prefer to patronize someone that has invested in Aviation. These folks deserve our support and you will enjoy the experience.

I always enjoyed stopping for great service and fuel pricing over the past 10 years flying the East Coast, but I had to stop unexpectedly for weather recently. Oscar felt it was important to hangar my plane due to pending storms. He worked after hours securing this, gave me the crew car overnight, suggested hotels and restaurants, and his Son Mitch came in early to pull my plane out on the ramp early in the morning. What a great Father/Son team. Better yet they truly enjoy the business and helping their customers. I can't say enough...I'm impressed. Thanks guys.

Stopped again this year at Taylor Aviation on our way home from Sun n Fun. After promptly receiving the requested airport advisory, we were again asked how many complimentary hamburgers / hotdogs we'd like. Long, wide runway remains in fine condition. Plenty of ramp space. Very prompt fuel service at the lowest price between NJ and FLA. Convenient to V1. Definitely worth the no-hassle stop. Will absolutely do it again.

Stopped in on my way to Sun N Fun as I have for the past several years. I was attended by Mitch Taylor. Both Mitch and his dad Oscar go way overboard when it comes to service. The airport is easy to get in and out of. The pavement is in great shape. Mitch is consistently out there to help at the self-serve pump, which by the way has the best price for fuel. To top it off during Sun N Fun the Taylor’s are running their world famous barbecue. Upon calling for the active runway you may find yourself placing an order for a burger or a dog. There is no better place to stop when going up or down the east coast. Thanks again guys!

Taylor Aviation is par excellence, second to none. Even with self-serve fuel prices, they are right there to assist you in fueling your aircraft with a friendly welcome. During Sun-&-Fun (3/27/11 to 4/3/11) they offer free hamburgers, cooked on outside grille and as good or better than most anywhere. EYF is well worth a side trip in route to anywhere. I frequent my stops there from many miles away.

3-8-11 Blew my nose tire on landing, Mitch came out to help us clear the runway. Tom Corey, a local restaurant owner calls his place to serve us early for lunch. Mitch call an A & P, who fix my flat tire, great guy Tom. All this in under 3 hours. GREAT Place!!

Stopped again a couple of weeks ago, enroute from NJ to FL. Our previous comments are unchanged. We would not think of stopping anywhere else, unless forced to by weather. The Taylor’s, Mitch and Oscar are the epitome of southern hospitality, their fuel prices are extremely reasonable and we would stop here even if they were higher. To top it off, they have the barbecue out for hamburgers and hotdogs and all the trimmings during Sun'N'Fun that are complimentary! We hope to stop again for this coming Sun'N'Fun. Flying home from FL to NH we planned a stop at EYF for RON. Due to delayed departure from intermediate stop and circuitous IFR routing our arrival was going to be somewhat later than we originally planned. Called the Unicom 60 miles out to see if they would be open, and Mitch said he'd stay for us. When we taxied in he came on and said, "Tie down over there and I'll bring out some car keys". He stayed later than planned for us, gave excellent directions and exhibited outstanding southern hospitality. Also, they got cheap (relatively) gas!

Perfectly situated for a flight from New England to Florida or Bahamas. Quick fuel service, light snacks available, and excellent fuel price. We always make it a point to stop here for fuel - have done so for years and are never let down by the family team running the show.

Oscar Taylor created the business and Mitch, his son, is a chip off the old block. I wouldn't stop anywhere else. Thursday, we pulled in and fueled with the same great service. The crew car was gone so Mitch gave us the keys to his own personal pick-up truck. If you need simple Southern food worthy of the Deep South, you need to go to the "Front Porch" restaurant.

Just an update to confirm our last comment from Dec.'09. No one better going from North to South on the East Coast that we have encountered. And their fuel price was lower than posted.

I called Taylor Aviation on 12/14/2010 while on a trip from MA to FL looking for information on food and fuel. Spoke with Oscar and was advised there were a handful of restaurants in town. My ETA was after normal FBO hours and Oscar went out of his way to allow use of the crew car (free of charge). Upon night arrival, found the fuel area clean and well lit. Topped off on fuel and took the crew car into town for dinner. There was even a note left in the car to access the FBO if needed. Top notch hospitality and nice folks. Not many of these left, would go out of my way to support these guys!!

Taylor Aviation owner Oscar Taylor makes this an exceptionally hospitable airport. Prompt fueling while you make a pit stop. Sandwiches, ice cream bars, etc. Available for lunch or a snack. Comfortable facilities in excellent condition. This is an unusually pleasant place to stop.

Stopped at Taylor Aviation both ways on our trip to Sun n Fun. After promptly receiving the requested airport advisory, we were asked how many complimentary hamburgers / hotdogs we'd like. I was flying from CSG to FAY during bad weather and ended up having to land at EYF. It ended up being a great choice. Fuel was $4.02 GAL which beat FAY's $5.50. Great little town but watch out for police more so state troopers they don't like speeders in that town or on route 87. Either way I'll be stopping at EYF for fuel everytime I go up to FAY. Again great little airport.

What a great aviation surprise! We had 165 knot headwinds from NY to Florida and needed a place to get fuel along the way. What great service, a courtesy car and a great lunch buffet for $6.95 (all you can eat). This was the real thing, southern hospitality!

I had posted strong recommendations for this facility several years ago. I need to update. The Taylors are the epitome of southern hospitality and graciousness. I would stop there, even if their fuel prices were not among the lowest for the trip down to Florida from our NJ home. My wife and I [and Junior, our Min-Pin], look forward to our stop there, and we make the trip several times a year. Truly wonderful people, and if you stop during "Sun'N'Fun", they always have complimentary excellent hamburgers, hot dogs, and, and the trimmings on the grill! Oscar is an excellent cook. [Good luck with your upcoming surgery Oscar!]
