This is a follow-up to my earlier comment regarding our dismal experience on an Angel Flight. I spoke personally with Cynthia, the airport director, who apologized sincerely and profusely for our experience. She emphasized that this is NOT how the airport is run and offered a number of very generous amenities to prove it. We respectfully declined because we believe her and the reputation for this airport has been too good, for far too long. I've spoken with several other pilots who fly for the Angel Flight, Life Flight and Grace Flight squadrons and we all agree that we will not let one miserable experience keep us away. Fuel prices are excellent, the facility and FBO is excellent and everything else about the airport is absolutely first-class. The fact that you can speak directly with the Airport Director and that she listens, empathizes and takes positive action speaks volumes in today's GA world.

Flew in Monday afternoon on an Angel Flight. Knew I was in trouble when I heard the guy's attitude on Unicom. Our handoff pilot was running late, and my patient and me stayed right up until 8:00, which was closing time. The guy behind the counter was a world-class jerk. He knew we were a medical flight, but he was more concerned about being able to close up early. I even bought full-service fuel to offset the "inconvenience" of him having to do his job, but because I asked just thirty minutes prior to closing, it was a huge pain for him. Never again will I fly an Angel Flight patient or anyone or anything into this airport. It was our first experience at Mesquite. It was our last experience at Mesquite. There are almost thirty GA airports in and around the DFW area. We can live without Mesquite just fine.

Stopped here in my Baron due to weather and filled up with gas. The line-guy was super-nice and offered us the courtesy car to keep overnight if we needed to go to a hotel (we didn't). Great price on fuel and a really nice facility. I'll be back, thanks guys.

I flew in to Mesquite yesterday and was pleasantly surprised with the spacious facility, as well as the attentive service I received. I was able to borrow one of their courtesy cars to run into town and they didn't even expect me to replace the fuel I had used! By the time I got back, my airplane was fueled up and ready to go just as I had asked. This is truly a great place to stop and I will be back as often as possible!

Stopped in at the end of Feb 2009. Was only going to stay for a couple of days, however, because of maintenance problem and then weather I stayed longer. These guys gave me the contact information for a couple of mechanics on the field. The facility is very nice and the service is great. SS or for 50 cents a gallon more Full Service. Very friendly to small prop planes even though the jets pay the bills because they buy so much fuel. These guys treated my little Cessna and me like I was their most important customer. Will always stop here in the future on my visits to Dallas. Then got help for a couple days for weather. They were very helpful and made me feel very welcome.

I visited the Mesquite Metro Airport last week to attend a concert in Dallas. I chose HQZ because their gas prices were almost $4/gal less than DAL. Rental car was there waiting for me. The line guy was very friendly and efficient. I was a very happy customer. Then my wife realized she forgot her shopping bag in the car. I called as asked what we could do. 3 days later, a box showed up at my door with all of my wife's stuff. Is this great customer service or what? To all my fellow aviators, this is the kind of people you want to do business with.

Friendly service and excellent facilities. Fuel prices are the cheapest I found in the DFW area. The airport is in good condition - it has the feel of a small town airport even though it is on the edge of a very large city.

Very nice facility. Great fuel prices. The security gates are not operational for some reason, but the airport provides security patrol through the night.

I just stopped by to fuel up yesterday, 5/29/08, after checking fuel prices on this site, only to find out that fuel was not $4.35, but $4.45. I just checked again, and the price of fuel still shows $4.35. Even though, it is still a great place to get fuel. Especially the ease at which it is to use the self serve pump.

I am a different Robert Brooks from the below entry. I Live in VA. I stopped and tied down the plane at HQZ for about a week. Great staff and very accommodating. This will be my future choice when visiting the Dallas Fort Worth area. It is much more affordable and very easy to access.

Beautiful, clean facilities. Friendly staff - Juan the line-guy is great! Fuel is as cheap as it gets for this DC area -based pilot. Runway is in excellent condition.

Lowest self-serve 100LL in the area, clean, comfortable terminal with friendly staff. Flight planning area had reference copies of all terminal procedures publications and AF/Ds.

The price posted at the SS pump does NOT included the 20 cents/gal FET however the price on AirNav does. Still one of the best prices in the DFW area.
Response from Cynthia Godfrey, Airport Director, Mesquite Metro Airport We have to add FET separate for government fueling cards, however, the posted price at the fuel pump is correct. It includes the FET tax and the price of the fuel is reduced to compensate.

Flew in 110507 for a few days. If you use the self-serve let the pump run some to prime before pulling the nozzle lever other wise it takes forever to start flowing. If you plan to tie down you may want to bring your own rope as they use rusty old chains, which will work, but you will need to clean up afterwards. You tie your own plane down, they don't. Weather computer available and coffee too.

Good: Nice facility, great gas prices, ILS and nice runway. Bad: terrible service, unfriendly and consistently rude staff except for Juan, no gpu, no tug, no accommodations. Someone please put in a real FBO here. It has potential and is only 20 Min from downtown Dallas. Don’t expect to be parked. Ever. It’s like going to a bad doctors office.

Stopped by on July 27 at 5:45PM. Friendly service, excellent new facility, great self-service fuel prices, reasonable tie down rates ($5.00/night for a single engine, first night waived with fuel purchase) I'll be back.
