Had a great stay at HTL. Tried to get some info via the listed phone with no luck. Eric Jaruch, Cornerstone Aircraft Maintenance is now the airport manager. To get help go to his hangar just north of the terminal building or call 989-366-4503. Eric was very helpful once we found him, fuel is self-serve but he will pump if not busy. He gave us his car for a few days, which was a big help and fixed a PTT wiring problem that came up on our aircraft. Single engine tie down rates were listed at $3/night or $6/week. We opted for a hangar at $10/night. Access to the terminal building is via the same code as all other Michigan airports. Lots of places to stay and eat nearby.

HTL is my kind of laid-back facility and just right for this setting. How the deer get over the high fence, must have a key so watch for them on approach. Self serv is easy compared to many. Tie down cable is in the grass so look close and bring straps or chocks for the hard deck. Norma and the dogs are very welcoming. Check out Driftwood Resort ~2mi for aviation friendly cottages.

Self-Serve is now by credit card & 24 hrs. Worked well, except I could not get the fuel hose to click & stop pulling back in. Luckily I had a young guy with me who stood on the hose. Otherwise, good quality, inexpensive fuel. The terminal is cute & it's a short walk to a local restaurant that is exactly what you'd expect in "up north" Michigan.
