After 32 years of my company flight department coming to IAD and using Landmark, we will be switching to Signature Flight Support!! Ridiculous parking and handling fees for shutting down 1 engine and deplaning a pax or picking one up. We ALWAYS buy fuel when we are there for any length of time at all. We've often overnight there and pay all fees for this privilege, but my appeals to Landmark management went unheeded and so we're moving on. Hopefully enough folks will do this and they will come to their senses. Otherwise...Landmark is the NEW SIGNATURE!!! Hated & avoided for all crazy fees.
Response from John Meehan, General Manager, Landmark Aviation Landmark Dulles does not currently charge a Facility Fee to piston aircraft. Jet Tenants of other Landmark facilities also do not pay a Facility Fee at Dulles. The airport requires both Landmark and our competitor on the field to collect an Airport landing fee and an Airport ramp/parking fee on the airport's behalf no matter how long or short the stay, quick turns included. All pilots need to understand that they will be charged an Airport landing and an Airport ramp/parking fee at Dulles and these are not waivable. A Facility Fee is levied by Landmark on Jets who do not purchase a minimal amount of fuel. Our facility fees are much cheaper than other major airports and are generally cheaper than the competition on the field. It is an unfortunate economic fact that high rents and concession fees at Major Airports require FBOs to charge a fee to defray some of the cost of operation in order to offer the outstanding level of 24/7 service requested by the customer base.

Flew into Dulles to meet someone at Landmark, and things have really improved since the last time I was here. Staff was all extremely helpful and friendly, even for a "little guy" like I was. Fuel is expensive and they have to collect a landing fee for the airport, but hey, that's life in the big city. I spoke with the new GM, and he is a former Army aviator and GA pilot himself -- and so wants to make this FBO much more friendly to all customers, not just the heavy iron. Good luck, John!

A no win situation for the customer. CSR advised all the fees would be waived, but the airport fee of 41.93. They waived the facility fee of 300.00 what’s this fee for anyway????? Then was charged 130.00 for the Ramp Fee, Landing fee and Ground Power Unit and we Purchased more than 1250.00 worth of jet-a. We topped off. Go to Signature at least if you have to pay the fees you get good service!

We flew in VFR from New England to Landmark on 12/18 in an Archer to see the new museum. Potomac/Dulles ATC was very helpful and easy to work with. We were charged a $10.08 landing fee and a $20 ramp fee for the night. Landmark staff drove us over to the museum and picked us up from an area hotel promptly for no fee. 100LL was $5.32 and there was no service charge hinging on a fuel purchase. The staff we interacted with were all cordial and fun. All-in-all, a great experience.

Came in to what is now Landmark Aviation the other day and there were 3 ladies behind the desk and one lady at what they call security desk. Well when I went up to look for my aircraft the lady at the security desk and two of the ladies behind the desk were at one of the desk talking in spanish and would not give me any help whatsoever. The two behind the desk looked at me like I was some piece of garbage, thankfully the other girl named Brittany helped me out and did more than what she had to do for me. I don't know what this company is thinking when they hire other people that speak Spanish or something there should be a rule put down that if you are working you only speak English unless there needs to be a translator, and if you don't abide by the rules you get sent home. I like coming to Landmark but if this keeps up I will be going over to what the line guy cody called it "the dark side". That made me laugh because it is true.

Flew into Hawthorne yesterday (11/4/05) in a Cheyenne. I was there for a whopping 15 minutes to pick up a passenger. WATCH OUT! The charges were $23 landing fee, $50 ramp fee and $150 facility fee. $223 to pick up a passenger. If you buy 100 gallons, then the $150 is waived, however, in my case their fuel was $1.50 more per gallon than at my home base. A no win situation. I am dropping the passenger back off on Sunday, and I will be trying Signature. Also, none of the people were very friendly and they are renovating the facility so it is not convenient (restrooms, flight planning, etc.).
