The staff couldn't have been more helpful. I called on Unicom when 30 miles out and was surprised to learn that they had a rental car immediately available. It was a bit pricey ($70/day) but it saved me a 2+ hour drive from the nearest other airport where I would likely to be able to rent a car. Finding a not-bad Mexican restaurant right next door to the FBO was a bonus, and fuel prices weren't too bad, either. All in all, a GREAT small-town airport and FBO!

Friendly service. If their free courtesy car is taken, you can rent a courtesy car for $20 for 2 hours.

Historical airport designed by Charles Lindbergh. The Mexican cafe attached to the FBO has good food, is clean and inexpensive. The FBO remodel seems to be complete, but they have no access to on-line weather. The line boy was helpful and friendly, though. There is a Dollar car rental in Winslow (928-289-1993). We stayed at La Posada Inn, the crown jewel of the old Harvey House hotels; it's been restored and justifies spending the night here, in itself!

Flew in today. Lineman monitors CTAF and greeted me with follow me cart. Ramp recently repaved and looks nice. FBO is in middle of remodel. Will be very nice when finished, but minimal facilities (fuel, bathroom, warm main room only) until done.
