I've always had a "soft spot" for this airport ... Monthly flights from NH to Duluth MN for 8 years Never again though - after checking NOTAMS prior to my flight ... Then asking ATC to confirm, clear NOTAMS just prior to landing with low fuel at dusk.... We found the fuel ramp and accompanying taxiway blocked off because the airport authority had just laid down fresh blacktop!!!! No access to fuel was possible - and no NOTAM for incoming pilots Departed and backtracked to KERY (Newbury) 36 mile Northeast and found fuel at a better facility for 60c /gallon less

A flight of two Cessna 172's returning from Alaska stopped here for fuel. Nice clean pilot rooms, fueling on the honor system, I.E. You fuel, leave your personal information in the log, and they bill you later. Refreshing to see there are still places in America that trust you and you can trust. Did not see anyone around, but one gets the feeling that this is an excellent place to stop, I will be back for sure.

Landed here for fuel on our way to Mackinac Island on Sept. 6, 2010 from VYS. Pulled up to the fuel pump and there wasn't a soul around. Walked into the unlocked building and found the instructions for helping yourself to the fuel. I've never been to an airport where the fuel is on the honor system. Nice to know that there still are trusting people in the world.

Our group of eight airplanes, during our fly-around Lake Michigan stopped at Schoolcraft County Airport (8/15/09). A man working at the airport came out and said he had never seen that many airplanes at KISQ at one time. We have stopped here before and found the airport and FBO to be charming. Self serve fuel, honor system. It’s always windy at the top of the lake.

I flew in here a few weekends ago on a sunny afternoon. There wasn't a soul in sight. The FBO is rustic and humble... A perfect Michigan U.P. Setting. You must know the Michigan combination to enter the building after hours. It has many forms of entertainment, such as Throwing darts and arcade games. WSI weather works fine. They have an honor system for fuel, which is uncommon in today's world, but works fine if you're honest. There was a brand new Unimog on the ramp, which is used to keep the runways in pristine condition. I have no complaints and this was an overall good experience.
