Stopped at LHX for fuel on 5 Jun 2010, self-service pump had lost prime. Very affable and apologetic gentleman fixed the problem promptly. Next day, same problem, same gentleman, same fix. It is unfortunate that the city does not fix this inconvenience for the sake of their own business. This old bomber base could be a very nice airport with the aid of some AIP funds if someone had the ambition to apply for them.

Friendly folks. Self service fuel worked fine. Used the courtesy car overnight. No hangar or preheat services were available. Stayed at the Midtown Motel-clean but very sparse.

La Junta, the airport, staff, and facilities are all great! I like it so much, I fly from COS just to get fuel. The courtesy car and trip to town for breakfast is a must do. I was there on Wed, 7 Oct, definitely mind the construction on 8/26 as Pete said. Some SA, 30 has a slightly displaced threshold and small FOD at the beginning.

BEWARE... Check NOTAMs RWY 08-26 is closed. At night, the lights come on as normal, but there are no lit Xs. The Xs that are there are over the numbers and are difficult to distinguish. The automated AWOS doesn't say anything about it. If someone were to land on the perfectly good RWY 8-26, they could taxi off into a 2 ft. Hole that is completely unmarked from the runway side. This is a very stupid situation. The FAA and its contractors need to remedy this. Use RWY 12-30. La Junta staff is fantastic, particularly John, the night attendant. I will certainly be back there for the cheap fuel and nice people!

Flew into La Junta today for their annual Fun Day and air show. Nice folks (as always) with a nice airport that is eager for your visit. Had a BIG problem after FBO business hours when the self-serve wouldn't dispense ANY fuel. I made a phone call to the number shown for after-hours, and the airport manager arrived (with his family) in about ten minutes to fix the fuel system. Seems that one of the employees had forgotten to turn on the valve in the pipeline that feeds the pump. Whooops! Here's the kicker! Two other pilots had trouble earlier in the afternoon (as evidenced by their receipts in the dispenser chute) and apparently neither of them alerted the airport staff. ARGH!! So, many kudos to the airport staff and manager for their prompt resolution to the problem. As always, La Junta is a wonderful destination.

We had a good experience. We were warned that the self-serve pump could loose its prime, but we had no problems with the pump, and otherwise the FBO was open and active on Sunday when we came through. It was a nice stop. Thanks!

We stopped for fuel on August 1st. Don was awesome. He lent us the courtesy car to go into town for breakfast. Friendly people, great fuel prices and a good meal. It doesn't get any better than this!

Easy in and out. Runway 8/26 in great condition. The taxiways are rundown, with patchy spots throughout and quite a bit of loose gravel. It's no problem to get around but don't hurry. Thanks for the superb fuel price!!

Just made a quick fuel stop but everything was as advertised. Self-serve station was easy to get to and well equipped and prices were best around. Pay attention to altimeter in the pattern! The surrounding plain around the airport is so featureless I got mesmerized a bit without having trees and things to gauge depth perception and found myself at 500' AGL on downwind to RWY 8. Good learning experience!

We've been here several times over the last four years. Always a friendly (and GENUINE) smile, good or even superb fuel prices, and an overall excellent visit. Borrowed one of the crew cars to breakfast at Copper Kitchen. The place was packed as usual, with the locals and the visitors mingling over breakfast. Wonderful place to visit!

What a great stop! Don was so helpful when self-serve fuel pump lost its prime. Offered us the blue Chevy courtesy car for overnight. Midtown Motor Hotel is very clean and comfortable, minimalist but great value for the price. Copper Kitchen is a great breakfast cafe, opens 6 AM. La Junta is a town that hasn't (yet) been sucked dry by a mall; it has many interesting shops and coffee places and restaurants. Will definitely stop there again.

Friendly staff stays on site. Has a pilot RON bed for a few bucks looks clean. I stayed at the Midtown hotel $44, were more than willing to pick me up, but I used the airport car. I am a ferry pilot and will definitely use again.
