I arrived yesterday with a client in an SR22, to take a lunch break. Jim and his staff (including JJ, the adorable airport dog) met us at the plane and promptly attended to our needs. Jim provided us with a loaner car and even started up the a/c for us while we buttoned up the plane, so the car would be cool by the time we sat inside of it. Interior of FBO is fresh, clean and updated, with plenty of free chocolate! Excellent service, friendly folks.

Small and friendly, and first rate. You may even be met by a chock-carrying mascot! A really nice place to drop in, and if you go in to quaint Louisa, try the "Montpelier" at the deli across from Wachovia bank--Virginia ham at its best! Very Mooney-friendly runway, and if that's not enough, it's worth a stop just to see the model collection.

2nd visit to LKU. Arrived during an air show, but the FBO made us feel welcomed, gave us room to gather ourselves in the flight planning room. These folks are all about customer service. We shall return. I do need to remember to bring my own tie-down lines. (They have great anchors, just no lines on most unoccupied tie-downs.)

Response from Jim McGuire, FBO Manager, Meridian Air Group
Chris thanks for the input on the tie downs. We now have installed new ones. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Next time you're in check out our new maintenance department.

Jim McGuire-FBO manager at Meridian Air Group LKU. Our beloved Lab Jake had to be put to sleep on July 18 due to his advancing disease. His last day at the airport was July 4th. Our new Lab, "J.J." is on duty some days. He's a little shy as he gets used to his job as airport dog. Come by and say hi.

I am a local to central VA and am based in Orange (OMH). I left for Richmond and had a forced landing in LKU due to a low oil pressure indication. LKU should be a stop for everyone, great people, great service and facilities. Meridian is making great strides to provide full service to the aviation community. There are modernization projects underway and this is a jewel for GA, look forward to going back and have the new maintenance staff work on my plane.

Want to briefly echo the positive comments left by so many. Usually visit CHO every couple of months, and have been looking for an alternative. I have found it. A little longer drive, but the welcome here was ... welcoming. They are clearly working on upgrading this little airport with a nice FBO. Friendly owners, friendly yellow lab (Jake), friendly line worker, friendly A&P .... What a great experience for a weekend stop-over. Only constructive criticism: the tie downs need lines.

Great airport!! I landed at LKU today to visit a friend at a nearby nursing home. Sam came out to my airplane and greeted me and asked if I needed anything. What a pleasant surprise, and what a nice person!! I was able to borrow the airport courtesy car; they even brought it around to the front door for me. I hope to be able to visit there again soon. Places such as this are hard to find. If you were traveling in the Richmond area, I would definitely make Louisa County Airport part of your travel plans!

My wife Joanie and I work at LKU on the weekends with Jake, the airport Labrador. Jake has been diagnosed with a tumor and is undergoing treatment. Hopefully, he will be out there at LKU to greet all his friends soon. We appreciate your concern.

We have been flying all over the State collecting Ambassador Passport stamps. We received THE FRIENDLIEST WELCOME and MOST SUPERIOR CUSTOMER CARE at LKU...Hands down! They went out of their way to accommodate with pastry, coffee and every creature comfort. They are remodeling and really have things looking nice. If you want to experience how an FBO should be operated, stop at LKU! ... And say "Hi" to Jake (the airport lab), Jim (his master), and his beautiful and pleasant daughter (sorry I didn't ask her name). If you were only making one stop in Virginia, this would be a good one.

Very nice facility, recently remodeled, fresh donuts, good fuel prices, great staff. And Jake the Labrador is very friendly.

Great folks, very friendly and welcoming. Nice place to stop.

From Rodney Fielding on 11-Mar-2007
Very friendly staff and newly remodeled FBO. I also liked the Yellow Lab (I think his name is Jake?), I missed the cinnamon rolls everyone raves about but the donuts were a nice substitute. I will definitely be stopping by again.

Flew over from New Kent. The facility was clean and accommodating. Fresh coffee and donuts topped off the friendly service and intelligent conversation. Recommend you visit.

Refreshing approach in a field where service and performance are afterthoughts. Prompt, courteous, capable. I especially liked the Yellow Lab (can't remember his name), and the provided pastries on Sunday afternoon.

I was on an IFR flight with my instructor today and we decided to stop off at LKU. The airport staff was very welcoming, and we enjoyed a few minutes of hangar flying and got to meet the airport's namesake (Ret. Adm. Freeman). The airport / FBO environment was very professional, but comfortable, relaxed and very friendly. I will definitely go back and recommend others stop off for a visit if they get the chance. Thanks for the coffee and cinnamon rolls!

I've flown over to LKU from Charlottesville a couple of times to buy gas. The new FBO managers are nice, accommodating and doing their best to build up business. Recommend you drop by and help them out!

From Pete Costello on 06-Jan-2007
The staff was very friendly and more than accommodating. If LKU is on your way, and you need to a pit stop, stop here. A friend and me stopped in here for a pit stop and asked about the closest airport that had food. They gave us a car, told us how to get to town (2 mi) and what was there. The FBO and field are very well kept and in great condition.

From Richard Leofsky on 28-Dec-2006
The new FBO operator has remodeled the facility making it very warm and friendly. Service is most accommodating with appreciation for your business. Advised that I could be late arriving and they waited 90 minutes past closing time to provide fuel and service with a smile. They make it a pleasure to do business and prices are fair.
