LWA was our destination on a long trip with our Travel Air this August. A very nice airport with plenty of ramp space and a well-equipped office and lounge with computer weather. Self-serve prices are reasonable though they rose sharply earlier this summer. When closed, the office/lounge is secured with cypher lock system and the combination isn't posted on the flightline (I'm told it is the standard number used for Michigan airports by the state DOT) so if you don't know the numbers or ask ahead of time you won't be able to get in after hours. Every year during the local Blueberry Festival the second weekend in August, the airport hosts a great fly-in with lots of neat airplanes and cars, and an excellent breakfast of delicious pancakes, eggs and sausage - worth a stop in itself!

Flew into LWA at the end of June and was treated great. I was there for business and they allowed me to use their courtesy van. My business lasted longer then I thought, a lot longer, and they accommodated my needs. Thanks guys, will be back for sure :))

Great fuel stop was on a non-stop from Mineral Wells, TX to Traverse City, MI with diversion around storms necessitated a fuel stop. The fuel was SS and as it was unscheduled and I was unaware of the SS arrangement, the young man was a “smart-aleck" at first on Unicom but ran up to assist in the fueling and was most pleasant in person. He apologized for the price, $4.25; I was tickled as I spent almost $6/gal. in Florida at the "big FBO's".

Spent the week at South Haven with the family. The airport is very nice and the staff is helpful. The have plenty of tie down spaces and ropes in the terminal building. Also, wireless is available in the terminal building. Two things to be careful of: crop dusters operate off the crossing grass runway and the nuke plant to the west along the shoreline. Great place to visit.

One of the finest FBO's in Michigan! Also with the lowest fuel prices around. They are always very helpful and courteous. On Feb 20 2006, a cold and blustery day (10F temp with gusts to 20k) I stopped for fuel. Even though they have a selfserve pump, the FBO attendant came and helped pump fuel. Much to my dismay the plane's battery died and I could not start it. It was almost 5pm, yet the attendant helped in locating the manager who drove to the airport with a portable charger. Half an hour later I was in the air again! Great place to visit.
