We stopped in Madera around 5:30pm to top off the tanks in my Comanche before a trip back to Phoenix. It was a hot afternoon, and Mike Bode invited my passengers into his hangar for some ice water and talked with us for a while even though his shop was closed for the day. Two of my passengers had never traveled in a small plane, so Mike's hospitality made a great experience for them. Look for the 'Plane Food' on the side of Bode's Avgas tank!

Flew in at night, about 11pm, with the airport a well cared for ghost town. Huge long and wide runway, pilot activated for lighting, and in good shape. The pumps at Bode have a slot machine appearance, with the lighting. Well lit. A safe stop at night, even if you've never landed there before. Fuel not the lowest, but pretty darn low in price.

Great fuel tanks, prices, service and airport. Bode Enterprises is the best service stop!

We made a nighttime diversion to this field after our exhaust gas temp probe failed, spent the night at the Holiday Inn about a mile away. Mike answered his mobile phone at seven AM the day after Thanksgiving and cheerfully agreed to drive to the airport to fix our C182. Mike identified the faulty probes and had replacements IN STOCK and put us on our way in an hour! His hospitality and willingness to respond to a transient pilots needs literally saved our Thanksgiving weekend not to mention tens of hours of driving. I Highly recommend this shop.
