The people are nice enough, but be prepared to pay though the nose here. Fuel is $1.80/gal more than Vegas (KVGT) and they pump it for you there. Even a Snapple is nearly $4. A year ago the fuel was only $1 more than VGT.

Don was excellent! I got a flat and he helped get me off the runway and back up in a days time. Great service and great help.

Flew into MMH twice in the past few days to drop off and pick up a friend. The airport is easy to get in and out of and there is a big area to the ESE of the airport for climb and descend (coming over the Sierras). Hot Creek charged $15 ramp fee even to just drop-off or pick-up but I'll gladly pay that to support a FBO up there, or they'd waive that if you purchase 15 gallons of fuel. Great staff, friendly service, carts waiting to guide me to my parking spot.

The Hot Creek staff was more than generous with their time on our recent visit. They worked hard to ensure our plane was put in a hangar and helped us well into the evening when we left for home.

After years of regularly using Hot Creek Aviation at Mammoth, I can still say that in all of my flying, they are at the top of my list when it comes to customer satisfaction and taking good care of business. The "what can I help you with" attitude is just great whether it is the line crew or the front desk staff. The area attractions and amenities make this our most frequent destination.

Mammoth itself may seem expensive ($87 lift tickets, etc.) -- but Hot Creek charged me very fairly for my stay. In fact, we did the whole thing over the phone -- arriving and departing outside of business hours -- and everything was done professionally and with no fuss. Thanks Hot Creek for your "invisible" help!

The Hot Creek Aviation staff was nice and helpful as always. About the $15 ramp fee (one is waived with 15 gallons of fuel) or $15 overnight fee, please consider what it takes to keep everything running, or the fact that they'll helpfully coordinate with one of the two rental car companies to get your keys and paperwork. Flying isn't cheap, $15 isn't that bad and the service is well worth it. As for rental cars, you have Enterprise or Mammoth Car Rentals (760 934 8111), which is by the general terminal. I recommend Mammoth Car Rentals: Wayne had a regular car for us (ford focus, just $50/day), brought the keys to the FBO for us since he'd be closed when we arrived while Enterprise's smallest offering was an overpriced SUV at more than $100/day and some $20 airport fee tacked onto that. The best part: Wayne offered to gas up the car for us at no charge outside of the pump price (I.E. 15mn saved for us on the way back). Thanks!

Called ahead. We had cars and a hangar for 2 nights, our Falcon was happy. Pat, Nancy and Greg could not have been more helpful. Nice clean facilities. What more could we want?

Expensive airport to visit. They charged me a $35 ramp fee + $35 overnight fee . I was only there for 12 hours and they charged $70. $35/night - I wonder what they charge per month for a tiedown. AVGAS is extremely pricey at close to $6/gallon. Beware.

Anyone wondering where the self-serve fuel is located? It's adjacent to the departure end of runway 9.

I have to agree that the prices are steep, but nice facility and very friendly/helpful staff. What used to be a cafe is presently more of snacks and drinks self-serve, but one step up from a machine. "Follow me" cart was there as we exited the runway to guide us to transient parking and provide help with securing the plane. Rental car keys were at the desk upon arrival. If you like the area for hiking/fishing, but not the bustle of Mammoth Lakes town, check out Convict Lake -- Across the highway and only about 3 miles from the airport -- A great place to kick back for a few days.

FBO, Hot Creek Aviation, charged a $15 ramp fee for a short stopover. Fee was not published in airfield/facility directory as of 12 Mar 2009 issue.
